Not a welding expert, does not look like you could even take it for a spin, I do not like that. http://topeka.craigslist.org/tls/1060494500.html

So please share your thoughts.

JUST FOR FUN LETS ASSUME IT WORKS

If you can't test it out, I would either pass on it or pay a hell of a lot less for it. It looks like it's been rode hard and put up wet.

Makes you wonder why they kept it sitting around for five years then all the sudden are trying to sell it?! :headscrat

Wouldn't consider myself an expert either. I do own two Miller welders though. On the plus side it's got the flowmeter/regulator but I don't see the hose, the mig torch and gound cable are there. It's been around the block a few times but if she runs and feeds wire, it's a pretty rock solid machine if it's anything like my MM35. If I really wanted it I'd start a little low and see what bites.
And i agree with Galaxie, have them start it up or walk away.

It looks rough, but if it is in working order, it's a good deal.

Some people think they will use something and never do. Some people after 5 years are smart enough to figure out how get rid of the stuff they never use.

Personally I would try it out and see how it does. I would probably offer $200 anyways.

UB post this over at SFT . I would say I would jump on it myself thats an industrial class machine and although it aint pretty I would bet it works like a champ.

That much rust, and it's been sitting for 5 years? No thanks.

As far as having something sitting for 5 years, when you have a business and money is flowing you tend not to worry about little things (ie. welder taken on a bad debt). Its not until things slow down that you start looking around your shop and ask yourself why didn't I do something with that years ago. You just don't have time when you're busy.

Unfortunately, I have stuff in my shop in the same category and so does most every other business owner I know. Anybody want to buy an escaltor cleaner?

The welder may or may not be good, but don't read too much into why its been sitting around. It just wasn't that important to the guy at the time. He was busy making money>

I don't like the condition from the picture especially the rust. However I have 2 Millers and one must be 50 or 60 years old and still works like new. Knowing what these things cost new I would be very tempted to at least try this out and make an offer if it were near me. Maybe it's cleaner under the cover. Also some bigger Millers were wired in 3 phase. I would not think one this size was anything but single phase but it may explain why these guys never used it.

Without a test drive, I'd pass. A lot of people say the old MM200 units are the greatest - not improved upon by subsequent models. But with all that rust on the shell I'd really wonder what the internal components were like. Unless I could fire it up and try to lay a bead I'd maybe offer $50 for it - $75 if I was feeling generous.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was going to say.
We have a couple of brand new welders in the warehouse at work that have been here for 5 years plus. They need a part or two. If things ever get slow, they may rise to the top of the priority list one day.
