I found this list on my local craigslist. In an email the guy sent me some more pictures of it with the model # and specs. Can anyone tell me anything about it...good or bad experience. I cant find anything on the model # online. It will see only light home mechanic duty. He is asking $150 and says it is 2 yrs old with only about 30 hrs on it. Thanks

The question is what do you consider "Light Home Mechanic Use"?
Thats not a whole lot of compressor to start with.

Well by light I mean that I wont be doing complete overhauls on a weekly basis. For the most part I just do routine maintenance, with the occasional larger job for which an impact would be nice. But this WILL NOT see daily use. This seems like enough output to keep up with an impact for sure. I dont have room or the budget for more than a 30 gal tank anyway.
I guess what Im really trying to figure out, is if this will be a reliable unit and if the claimed #'s (5HP, 6.9@40 and 5.5 @90) are realistic. Im also trying to find out if this is an oil lube or not...seller skipped that question.

It'll be fine for impact wrenches , air hammers, standard non-HVLP paint guns, and most air accessories. Just not enough output for continuous use of high speed tools such as grinders, and sanders.
I'm assuming by the PSI and output numbers that this is a splash lubricated pump unit --so it will be much more quiet and reliable than the oilless units.
Good luck --
EDIT: saw the listing -- stay away from oiless units.

Just sold a non-oil less for 80 bucks. 2 horsepower, but frankly, it probably had more than the '5'. Motor was BIG and it drew 1575-1700 watts, about the most you can pull on 110 without tripping breakers.
The oil less units are dang noisy. I wouldn't recommend one if you have to live with it, in a small garage with the door shut.
My sister has a ‘six’ horsepower oil less Craftsman. 30 gallon. I won’t go in the her shop when it’s running, and it doesn’t make as much air as my old 2 pony did.
Keep your eyes open, you will find a good deal.
If you are going with a 110, watch the wattage. No matter what ridiculous horsepower rating is on it, check the watts and do the math, or use an online calculator.
Look at a real five horse motor, then look at what they call a five horse on some compressors.
By the way, with the big 2 horsepower with a 20 gallon tank we painted cars, ran power tools, even sand blasted around the house. You don't really need a big rig unless you are a serious mechanic/painter. You just have to a little patient.
I now have a 60 gallon with a 5 horse motor. I really don’t see much difference except sand blasting and painting. And of course, the compressor doesn’t kick on quite as much.

Divide the volts into watts = amp drawal running. 1800 watts divided by 120 volts=15amps. You have to consider higher spikes when unit kicks on.
