I've heard time and time again that matco's sockets are made on the same line as craftsman by danaher. In a box I recently picked up were a few matco sockets. No comparison to craftsman imho. These sockets are by far the heaviest thickest walled sockets that I've seen. They are the deeps with the red lettering on them. They are the most durable looking sockets that I own, and I own some of all of the truck brands, and am a Snap-on fanatic.

All the Matco sockets I own are 15+ years old, they don't look anything like the newer CM sockets. I haven’t seen any of the newer Matco offerings, maybe someone on the forum has newer sets of each that they could compare.

Old Matco sockets and ratchets = Wright
Old Matco wrenches = Bonney
The old Matco tools were the best or right there. The new ones are certainly fine, but I don't like them as much as the old lines.

I have some Matco sockets and both the chrome and impact are better quality than Sears.
The deep well Sears are very thin and won't hold up with heavy use.

The matco sockets have PRETTY laser etching on them with blue(mm) or red(SAE), and the catalog says they have a jewelry finish. Yep jewelry finish, that is a difference!:spit:

Merkava: you are right about detent design. I hate that design because it bother me when I tried to put socket on either ratchet or air ratchet, it will make wrong fit. It bother me..
