I bought a Rotary Midrise lift a few weeks ago. I cleaned it up painted it. It worked fine with nothing on it even my riding mower went up. I put the corvette on it and it will go up then stop. I then tried to put the Tahoe to see if it was binding low. It will not go up. Any ideas.

Did you bleed the air out of the system? That's where I would start then look for something binding. Most likely if it goes up empty or with something real light on it there is air in the system.

How much does a Tahoe weigh, I would think its close to 5500 if 4WD.

Thats an OLD lift, the designed stopped being used I think about 10 years ago (it doesn't go just up, its up and back). Looks like a low rise, 24" or so max, mid rise go 36' to about 48". Are you sure on the 6000 lbs, my 6k lift has two cylinders.

Yes, they are rated at 6K lbs. Tire shops were the prime user of those lifts and they are "bullet proof". As was stated before, air in the system is the most likely culprit.
EDIT: I looked at the pic again -- what's all that "gunk" on the ram piston. Is that grease? or paint? I hope that isn't coming from inside the receiver tube. If so, you have a major seal problem. If it's paint, then you've most likely ruined a seal when the piston receded back into the receiver. That piston should be as "shiney" as a freshly minted coin.

Yes it is a 6000#, the tahoe is 2wd weighs 5100#s and that is blue tape to keep the paint off the shiney cylinder. I have a newer manual that rotary sent my just after purchasing it.The manual says: oil line must be bled.loosen swivel fitting on cylinder hose. Jog power unit starting switch. Pump will force oil into lines and bleed air out loose fitting and then retighten.
