Going to take a look tonight. Missing the lock, 6 clips for the slides, and one door handle. He said the model is 910A. I'm assuming its the same as a MAC 910. The measurements are 33 1/2" W x 18 1/2" D x 20" H. That sounds like it matches right up with my MAC 920.

He's asking $150. Seem like a decent deal to you guys? I know I got my other box at a really good deal, so its hard to use it as a reference.

If it had the clips I'd say yes but since it is missing them I offer $75.00 and stay firm!!

Price = $150 - (cost of 6 clips + lock + door handle)
Add cost of Krylon for negotiating purpose.

Price those clips and the door handle if you can before you go over there, and see if you can get him to drop about $30 off it.

I bought some friction slide clips from sears a few years back...think I got six or eight for about $20.

The lock missing, that's par for the course for a box that old.

Other than that stuff though, looks like a real nice box! :bounce:

If I was the seller, there's no way I'd take less than $100 for that box.

Got it. In great shape.

$100 and I traded him my 3 drawer 26" W top chest. That chest wasn't really needed anymore and didn't have a good place to go, so it worked out well.

Excellent! That will go real nice with your Mac rollaway!

What brand was your top chest that you traded?

Ya know, I had a feeling I was going to get that question:)

I actually have no idea. I took a picture before I took it up there for an id...but I can't get my pics off the camera until I either fix my card reader or track down my usb adapter

I looked everywhere for a stamp or label and I couldn't find anything. It was probably from the 80's. Had similar handles, just didn't have a logo on them. Red paint...darker than the MAC and Matco. Slides did not have clips, instead they had indents that linked the drawer to them. Got any ideas?

It was in good shape. Still had a lock too. I recall getting it for $20

As Billymade likes to say...inquiring minds want to know!

Not sure what that box was you had, but I'm sure it won't be missed and I'm sure you got the better end of the deal.

Just curious, but what was his reason for getting rid of the box he sold to you? Just didn't need the storage?

I really like that box...wouldn't mind picking one up like that myself. Not that I need it or anything!

He had a friend who was a mechanic and I guess retired? He got that top box and 26" craftsman roll cab...it sounded like at different times. I'm assuming the original owner didn't have the 2 together. He kept the Craftsman and said he really would have liked to keep the Matco, but it didn't make sense for him to do so.

The guy was really nice, and just as happy with the deal. Worked out well for both of us.

Oh, here's something cool too. The Matco still has the original inspection card and maintenance card in there. Another picture worthy thing when I get everything working

I have way to many other things to take care of before even considering a paint job. It really doesn't need it anyways at this point. I think it looks nicer than in the pic too.

The bottom box I have is in more need of a refinish...but again, too many irons in the fire to take that one on now.

I'm planning on taking them out this weekend and cleaning them up with degreaser and the power washer.

My pops has that box and the bottom. I want them! If I can find a deal like you found I'd be all over it. I want a vintage type Matco or similar - even with friction slides they are still smooth and strong as hell!

The cool vintage feel is all over it.

I'll take a box built like a tank with friction slides, over one built with thinner metal and ball bearing slides any day! :pimpflash

Finally got my camera stuff fixed up. Here's a shot of the old 26" top I traded in. Any idea what it is?

Maybe a Proto? I really don't know. It's not a bad little box...but you did well on the trade! :pimpflash

Yeah, it was well made, no doubt. I liked it. But trading it in was worth it.

Nice box. Nearly all the boxes in the US are actually made by Waterloo. go to http://www.waterlooindustries.com/ Service Parts Phone:1-800-833-4405 and they'll sell the slide clips direct for $1.09 each plus $2 shipping, so get lots of extras.
