can anyone give me info on this sk chest. i stumbled upon it but i don't know anything about it . i would guess 70's vintage. was it sold as part of a set or seperately? i don't have any old sk catalogs to date them and have not seen any on the internet. does anyone have a copy to referance?

yes, 70's. SK sold them with sets, but they were hugely expensive for their time.

They also sold the chests separately, again priced out of reach for most.

Their market was via hardware stores, and by then the pro mechanics were buying better products for similar prices from the "trucks" and homeowners wouldn't pay big bucks for wrenches.

thanks skip, does any one have any more info or pics on such a set. i would love to recreate a vintage set. the box is not excellant but it is pretty good. it has that same hammered paint finish as socket set boxes of that era.

Thats interesting to me. In used tool bins and estate cleanout piles at the flea market, SK is the most common brand around here besides Craftsman. I always thought that maybe one of the major retailers here sold sk.
Do you remember if they were marked 'sk tools' in the 80's or had they switched to just 'sk' ?

i think sk tool goes back in the early seventies or earlier old salvage. does anybody have an older catalog with this chest in it?
