I picked up a nice vise 5" at a local swapmeet, trouble is one of the jaws is cracked at the mounting screw. I called Sears, talked to a couple different places, and they say no replacements parts are available. One person actually said to me that Sears contends that if it worth $100 or under, its a "throw-away" item. Also the model # on the vise and the actual model # are supposedly different (???). Any help?

I know they don't sell parts for Cman vises. You can buy a piece of scrap steel from a steel supply store, and make one if you have a grinder and a drill. Or have someone on here make one. If you have the right equipment it will take a few minutes. May have to offer a case of beer though..

could buy a cheap vise at the store with a part that will work or can be modified to work. or you could just get a piece of sqaure steel and with a die grinder, a lathe and a drill press make one.

You do not mention what type of vise it is, this is critical. Save me the windy explanation, perhaps I can help if I have some pics to go on. Post pics.

Wilton may be able to supply the part for the jaw. I believe they make many of the Cman vises anyway.

The problem you have does seem to be a problem among cheaper vises that sell for under $100. It's also common on the less expensive common Wilton vises that they sell at places like Lowes and Home Depot. Basically when it comes to a vise the person at Sears was right.

Do you have the model #? You could try looking here; worth a try anyway...

I did find parts for a customer once but he didn't want to buy the parts; he was pissed because the vise didn't have a lifetime warranty! :)
If no luck; figuring out the original OEM; would be the next step.... then contacting them. Got any pics? Maybe someone here can id it for you... good luck!
