I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any fender rolling tools. I know a lot of people use a baseball bat, which seems to work. But I would like something that has a little more control.
Tire Rack (http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/tools/fenderlip.jsp) sells this:

This professional quality fender lip rolling tool is designed to maximize the wheel well clearance when upgrading to a larger Tire & Wheel Package or when installing fender flares. Can also be used to repair wheel area damage.
$300 doesn't seem like a bad price, I'm just not sure of the quality. I could probbaly rent one locally, but come on, I'm a tool junkie. I figure I could also make some money back on it either loaning it out or doing it for someone.
I searched google, I didn't find anything besides this one. Most everything that came up was how-to's.
I know I need a heat gun too. Tire Rack recommends theirs, for $200 :spit: Yeah, Harbor Freight it is!

Eastwoods has an identical one to that on sale right now for $249.99. It's item #31158. The sale is on until 5/31.
I never used one 'nor do I know anyone who has so I can't tell you how well they work.

I prefer this tool for rolling fenders:

Does the bat work good? I'm scared of not having enough control over the situation with the bat. Believe me, I'd rather spend $20 on a bat then $250 on a rolling tool, unless the rolling tool is really going to do a much better job.

Uh... you don't. Well, you could, but it would get really expensive really quick. Just buy some fender flares (the GM ones... not the crappy aftermarket ones).

Okay, now this is getting interesting...
How do you roll a fender without cracking or otherwise upsetting the paint??? Now I'm curious....

Supposed to heat it with a heat gun. Some say it will still crack, others have good luck with it. I'm hoping I'm going to be part of the latter.

Oh, I ordered the tool from Eastwood. So, I'll post back after I finally get to use it.

Much ado about nothing. I've been rolling the lips on fenders for over 30 years with nothing more than a deadblow hammer and somewell placed blows to the inner lip. Use many softer blows and work the whole area back and forth and you'll do the same job without any expensive single purpose tool. I've never torn up any paint either, just takes a resonable approach.

I've got the laser cut bits of steel & a spare old vw jack mentioned in the Golf magazine article posted previously - just need a bit of spare time & an old skateboard wheel before i can begine welding!
