Does anyone out there know who manufactures the Kobalt air compresors they sell at Lowes. I'm talking about the 60 gallon ones, they look a lot like an Ingersol Rand, 500 bucks don't seem to bad for one that runs 13cfm/90lbs. Thanks, and ya'll have a great day!

Maybe Cambell Hausfeld. They carry a lot of their products. They also make the Home Depot Husky line.

Are you sure the Kobalts are CH? I know the Huskies are and in comparing the Kobalts to the Huskies have found some differences, with the advantage going to the Husky/CH. The high output Kobalt does have some nice features and a little more capacity, but I'm not convinced of their origin. The Husky I'm getting in a couple weeks still has a US cast pump.

No I'm not sure, it was just a guess since they carry a lot of their products. The other company I'm thinking of is maybe Coleman. I haven't done any close comparison, but ever since I saw their vertical portable compressors with the univeral motor made me think of Coleman.

From the factory in Rock Hill. I bought a scratch and dent off there website and went there to pick it up. From the compressors they had waiting to be shipped I saw many different brands. Kobalt, Mac tools, Cornwell, Harbor freight, Northern tool, Bel Aire, Rockworth and I'm sure there are others. They are one of the largest compressor builders in the U.S. I bought a 7.5hp 80 gallon which is identical to the one at harbor freight. I paid $800 and they are $1349 at Harbor Freight. It has a true 7.5hp baldor motor and american IMC B6000 pump. If you look at the warranty or parts breakdown for a Kobalt compressor it will reference American/IMC.

Good question. We'd have to see if they are the same parts they put on the other big names listed.

The black Us General Air Superiority models are good compressors. If you look at the specs from the manual http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/90000-90999/90836.pdf they will match the part numbers off ABAC/American IMC's website http://www.abacparts.com/ProductListing.aspx?sys=&xcid=282. I did alot of research on this because I did not believe it myself. Harbor Freight has a very good deal on these compressors. If you look at the B6000 pump on abacparts it costs $575 and the 7.5hp Baldor motor costs $750 an 80 gallon tank costs $572 and the mag starter costs $173. You can buy the compressor for $1349 at HF. At times abacparts will have scratch and dent compressors on their site. Let me know if you have any other questions.
