Or you can spend a bit more and step up to the 1/2" IR 2135ti that I'm selling :D

I haven't used the cornwell impact, but I do know that I tend to reach for my 1/2" drive more than the 3/8", especially when I'm doing suspension work.

You can get a Ingersoll 2115ti for $169+ship. new on e-bay. It is a better tool than the Cornwell. However I'd consider the Cornwell if you can beat the guy up on his price.

Any time you buy a used air ratchet used you take a chance. Always look at the tip closely if worn its shot. Ask to try it first if going to the location.

I would pass. I'm not a fan of those. I think your first impact should be a 1/2 drive model. The IR 2135 titanium series are great but, if you don't wrench full time, a classic IR 231 for a little over $100 new will last you forever.

Ok, and which 3/8 drive impact do most of them use? Snap on MG31, MG325 or IR 2115ti, or 2112? If you're interning watch and learn from the other techs to see what works for them, holds up the best, and what they like. Good deals aren't always good deals. The price is only one part of the equation. You also need to have speed, power and durability. If you only buy something because it's cheap, you'll end up being unhappy with it. I still wouldn't recommend getting a 3/8 impact until you have a decent 1/2 drive impact.
For me, I prefer the IR 2115timax series. It's light, powerful, and compact.

they all use MG31's....which from snapon are about 400...i dont have that kinda cash per my 8/hr salary :( so i was trying to find one that i can mess around with until i get the money for a high quality one...even with my school discount the MG31 is like 250...IMHO a little high for a 3/8 impact...although ive used it and love it...just cant afford it....

a place near me called Eppys has some great IR impacts ranging from 150-300......which seemed a little high to me until i looked at how much the MG31 was...
