Ok I have about 2k thinking of getting the extreme tools 55" box combo but I dunno how good the quality is.

Now I am wanting a snap on but I dunno how hard it is to get financed for one
Long story short I was laid off got a new job running a shop so I would be a new face to the snap on guy.

Lots of great deals on CL right now on MAc, MATCO and Snappy boxes.... how would you finance an Extreme box?

I would have to finance the snap on off the truck since they are like 6k+ and I only have 2 cash but like I said I dunno how hard it is to get financed. I know my old guy would finance me random tool sets but never tried for anything that expensive

If you have a pulse, they'll probably finance a box for you.

Whether or not a $6k Snappy box is a good investment in these times and just as you start another job is another question.

I would just buy the best box you can used for the 2k. Snappy will finance you but you are paying TOOOO much for it off the truck imo. 2k in these times can get you a lot.

+ 1.

Especially right now, there are great deals to be had on used boxes.

I would buy the extreme and not go further into debt on a new job, after I was just laid off.

What's the interest rate from S.O. credit ???? like 18%. That's foolish !!!!!!!!!!

Either find and buy a used "tool truck" box........or buy a NEW 72" Extreme.......

They have a HEAVY 11GA model for $3K or the 900lb lighter version for around $2K

It shouldn't be too hard to find a well kept Snap On, Matco, MAC, or Cornwell box for what you are willing to spend. Even if you have to travel a couple of hundred miles, it is still better than going that far into debt for a new one.
FWIW, I traded 8 older, smaller Snap On boxes and roll cabs for my KRL1001, and traded a horse trailer for my Snap On KRL1201, so this is worth trying.
I traded an 16 foot car trailer for a Snap On IM75 impact, it never hurts to ask.

I think Snap-On boxes are ridiculously overpriced. I suggest looking at Lista's cabinets. You can get them custom configured and they hold up to 400 lbs per drawer. The only downside of the Lista's is that they don't have casters.

Where are you located? There have been some links posted to some smoking deals lately.

For a little more I would consider this box as well. Once I run out of room in my chest, I'll most likely buy one.

This the one area where SO is the best in class: they are the clear leader when it comes to tool boxes/chests.
I bought a nice one recently on CL.

I would look locally for a used SO or Matco tool box with $2,000.00 cash, there are allot of very good deals out there as daveblank mentioned. If you don't have any luck then I would buy the Extreme Tools tool box.

As someone who just got laid off, i think your best bet is to keep the cash and make do with what you have until you have another 2 grand to spare. Otherwise find a used Snap-on box for that money. Don't finance unless you're 100% sure you have total job security until the box is paid off.

If you are in the Mid Atlantic area, I have some nice boxes for sale. And I'm sure whatever area you are in, you can find a nice used box. Snap on KRL's are hard to beat and mac and matco make nice boxes also. Don't rush, you'll find what you want.

I have a container of 18 drawer boxes arriving in a week. I am going to promote a GJ special. GJ members can get the 18 drawer box with stainless top for $1995 without stainless top $1850

Hi Shannon,

Which parts of that box are 11G steel? I'm assuming the bottom panel by the casters and maybe the top panel across the top. :dunno:

The Extreme 7217 and 5511 sit on an 11 gauge caster channel. The outer shell is 1.5mm steel

7217 (17 Drawer) with 11 Gauge caster Channel and 17 Gauge/1.5mm shell weighs 1132# and costs approx $3000

7218 (18 Drawer) with no gauge specs listed weighs 908# and evidently (see above) Shannon will be doing a GJ promotion for $2000
