If you something more OEM'ish, you can go with SuperLube 21030.

my KRL1203 and KRl1003 never have lubed before i bought it used. but i told my snap on guy that slides are sticky and look like a lot of dirty inside slides. my snap on guy warranted almost whole slides at no charge...

Vaseline gets hard when left exposed.

I've used it to protect chrome from corrosion during storage - after a few months it's like silly putty.

I'm currently in the process of cleaning and lubing all of the slides on my box that was new in 1994. Most of the slides still worked just fine but were starting to get pretty sticky. As an experiment I took one set of slides off and scrubbed it down with carb cleaner and really cleaned it up. With it cleaned up and no grease on it, it worked much better. Once I put some superlube on it, it was simply a dream.

All of my slides were very dirty. The grease does not last forever and should be cleaned and reapplied after 10 to 15 years.

I use air tool oil, really lightly rub down the slides with a rag
