Bought a King Tony (Taiwan) 3/8 Ratchet, Teng Tools (Taiwan) 12pc Spanner Set, and a Marathon 16lb Ball pein Hammer.

King Tony Ratchet

Has nice shiny chrome, easy to clean and polish. Has a nice weight and 35~tooth mechanism. Has no socket release mechanism but has a ball underneath which holds pretty damn good.

It has nice sharp corners, and from what i can see the screws are Locktited in.
Teng spanner set:

Comes in a Teng TC tray to place in your tool box. Sizes 8-19 with Imperial markings on the tray for cross referencing sizes.

It has a sharp defined head with a nice uniform polish.

Ring end has nice clean hex's. Satin finish looks like should still give grip even if you have greasy hands.

Defined writing and can see between the 8mm and 19mm distinctly.

Did you mean 16 ounce ball pein hammer and not 16 pound? I used a 16 pound sledge once and wouldn't want to use it often!

If i'm not mistaken, the style is set in shape in accordance to European DIN standards and the design mimics that of Elora wrenches. I'm inclined to think that Toptul got their design from Elora (or other European brands).

Sorry 16 ounce. Not too familiar with the imperial system these days.
I kinda prefer the european style wrenches over the conventional flat/raised panel in the middle.

You`re from the UK ? What did you pay ? Do you also have the kingtony sockets with the colored band ?
There are not many ways of doing the wrenches, but still there are slight differences:

No, im from New Zealand, the spanners cost me $110NZ on special, the ratchet was $40NZ, and the hammer around that too from memory. No i dont have the sockets either.
I like the Bahco ones, i was going to buy a set because they were quite cheap and polished chrome finish, but they had sold out last week. :(

Hi Mik641, where in NZ are you? Wherever you are I hope the weather is better there than here in Wellie!
Like the tools by the way- King Tony and Teng do some very good stuff!
I'm slowly getting a collection together, for working on my new project- a car that goes, in a body/ chassis that is completely shot with rust- reshell here I come!
Are you keeping track of the ongoing King Tony and Teng promotions?

Im in wellington .
Yeah i get my stuff usually from Engineering Supplies(kt), or through waitemata hydraulics(koken) and sulco.co.nz
looking to buy a set of pliers to upgrade aswell.. thinking about bahco for 120 bucks.
by the way.. mitre 10 in lower hutt have a good range of bahco tools.. sockets, spanners, screwdrivers and stuff which are bloody good too.. i am slowly replacing my powerbuilt sockets with bahco ones.

Random, I'm in Wellington too!
Waitemata Hydraulics in Auckland was one of the first places I visited about tools (I was in the area, honest!), and there's also Engineering Supplies and Bay Engineers Supplies in Petone... I usually visit them every few months to grab the latest fliers, and the opportunity for a drive. Having said that though, I grabbed my 1/4" Koken set off of Agripower in Auckland, and my 1/2" set through Trademe... I lucked out with both I think!
I must say the Bahco stuff is growing on me... I found their sets unusual to look at at first, but they feel pretty functional to use, but I'm still not sure about the satin finish they have!

Can you guys in New Zealand post some more pictures of your King Tony stuff (or anything not common over here)? I'm also curious to see some links to tool fliers/promotions over there.

Someone that alot of people seem to worship ( they also seem to have no life if they really care about someone they met online and spend enough time on here to have withdrawl symptoms about it.)
Shocker

Merk is a frequent poster. Very opinionated. Good guy. People were concerned seeing as he hadn't posted in a few days when he is a regular.
I don't have withdrawal, but I am glad nothing bad happened to the guy.

We've got a place here called Agri-Supply that sells King Tony tools.
I've bought some of their stuff and it's good quality at pretty good prices.

Bought a Marathon 16lb Ball pein Hammer.
Good surface finish and comfortable weight
Nicely machined finish too.
Elroy prefers the finish on these USA ball peens:

But if you're happy with the Marathon then that's all that really matters.

I make a trip to Agri-Supply 3 or 4 times a year. I picked up a King Tony 3/8 breaker bar a couple years ago and it has served me well. I like the look of their sockets with the colored band. Their ratchets with the black rubber grip remind me of Facom ratchets.

Doubt that those are clearcoated. Just superbly finished. Who makes those Elroy?

I like the look of their sockets with the colored band. They're one of the few brands that colour code their imperial and metric sockets, they make good stuff :)
