Picked this up at a garage sale today and frankly I don't know what to call it. It has a 3/4 socket head on one end and a 11/16 on the other. Both ends pivot as shown by different positions in the pics. If I am reading the Alloy Artifacts page right, I think this was made in 1940. Anyone confirm and provide any additional information. Didn't see anything like this on the Wright page. Thanks, Drew

Old school. Sometimes referred to as a Saltus wrench. I know MAC and Herbrand use to make the double ended ones like yours.
Sk, Snap on and possibly others still make the style like yours except one end has a standard open end wrench in place of the other socket.
The 1940 date looks correct to me.

Early Wright wrenches seem to be rare. I believe they quit making wrenches for a period of time.

Philw is right...Wright Tool & Forge was taken over(contracted) by the War Department for a few years during WW2.Wright had(still has) it's own forge so it was used for the war effort, only a few tools were produced during those years.

Hellcat...let me know if you want to trade that "old" wrench for a shiny "new" one.........:spit:

I believe Saltus is a brand name, made in Germany IIRC. Saw some at a sale and was suprised that it was a brand. Went for too much money for me. I have a set of SO's form the early 50"S

No, actually spent 20 years in the Army and that was often a callsign I would use when in the field. Just sort of stuck!
