Looking for some knowledge here. I couldn't find a model number on the box. Other than being a Cornwell and an older box, that's all I know. I picked it up for 50 bucks, be it a good deal or not, I needed a tool box.
There is some needed restoration. The paint is some rattle-can deal, it's missing a drawer pull, and the sliders are in desperate need of some maintenance. Still, I'm really happy with the box. Sorry about the picture quality, they're off my cell. I included a picture with an old snap-on top from today and another shot for all the organizational nazis. ;)

I haven't stripped it yet. I'm planning on it though. I want to get the sliders up to spec, then pull the drawers off. there are some separators in some of the drawers I want to remove, but I'm not sure how to go about that just yet.
Once all that is taken out I'll paint the box and the snap-on top box black. I might do a close to black red, with a perl coat...but we'll see, I don't want to make it too nice because I'll be afraid to scratch it.

I'm trying to find out what kind of paint I should use on the box. Is there a specific type that is used for tool boxes? Powder coat maybe?
The other thing is the dividers in the drawers. Is there any way to remove these without damaging the surface of the drawer? The snap-on top box has em, and so does the Cornwell bottom box. It almost looks like they're on with some sort of adhesive, i don't see welding marks of any kind. Has anyone tried to remove these at all? You can see the dividers in the drawer of the picture (not my toolbox)

I have that same box and the dividers in it appear to be resistance (spot) welded in place.

hmm, so a little time with the angle grinder should make quick work of the dividers. Thanks for the input!
I might leave the dividers in the snap-on box, but on the cornwell it's just annoying since I can't use the full length of the drawer.

In the picture with all the boxes, what type of box is that with the analyzer on top?

To be honest, I don't have the slightest clue. I picked it up on craigslist for 25 bucks the day before I got the Cornwell, so my attention was diverted to the Cornwell box. I'll scope it out when I get home and let you know. It's not that great of a box, but hey, storage is storage.

I've got one like it, except it has a flip up door underneath, but the paint colors and the drawer pulls appear to be the exact same. I looked for a name and couldn't find one but yours looks to be in better condition.

I'll see if I can find any markings on it today after I get back from cracking open a bottle of Glenfidich 15 with my dad.
I'll take better pictures of the boxes too with an actual camera rather than my cell.
That little red box is ok, one of the wheels has a flat spot so I wont keep the oscilloscope on it permanently until I fix the wheel.

FWIW, with the rounded corners, your Cornwell looks very much like an older Utica roll cabinet I have.

It's the rounded corners that got me wondering what model this box is. Maybe when I take the drawers out I'll find some sort identifying information and build date.
I think it's probably an older box because of the friction sliders.
