I've got the 19.2 craftsman 1/4" impact, with a 3/8 anvil end in it, it'll tear the bolts/nuts out of my tool cart without even thinking, and when cranking them down it'll twist the metal. Its got alot of power for what it is. I've never seen the 20v, got a link? go to sears and see if they have one on display and try it out

I saw that one too, and it looks like a nice setup. Sears has nothing on their website, and no amount of web ninja skill could help me find info on it the other day.

A friend was going to sell me his older SO 3850 for $200, but now I am considering this as the ability to expand the toolset is better.

It's too new for anyone to have. However, I am real leary of Craftsman power tools. It only comes with one battery and a second battery at member price is $69.99. Go to Sears tomorrow when the club days start and see if they have one.:headscrat

Not sure why it didn't get added online before Craftsman Club went live (everything was scheduled to be available before then), but the we're working on getting it online now.

The tool comes with 1 battery because it is part of the 20v Platform and since it isn't sold as an "add-on" (without the battery), it is a balance between what someone new to the platform needs and what someone who owns 20v batteries needs (if you have 2 batteries already, you probably don't need 2 more). The price is also agressive enough that getting an extra battery shouldn't break the bank.

I have the 20 volt drill, reciprocating saw, and 1/4" impact driver. I am very happy with them. These are powerful, heavy duty tools, a completely different line from the regular Ryobi made Craftsman cordless tools.

Does TTI also make the Craftsman Pro cordless tools? If so, where do they fall in the lineup--comparable to Ridgid @ HD?

TTI makes most of the Craftsman Pro corded drills and all of the C3 cordless tools but the 20v platform is a completely different vendor so the product is not the same as Ridgid. However, these tools compare with the 18v Lithium-Ion range from Ridgid (or technically the previous 24v Li-Ion tools that are being discontinued)

The platform was designed from the ground up to be Lithium-Ion based and heavy-duty. Unfortunately there isn't a compact drill for the platform, which is where the market is going, but there could be in the future. However, the current tools will definitely handle anything you would throw at regular Dewalt/Makita/Bosch/Ridgid tools.

Tools on the platform:
Drill - 28169 (kit) 26302 (tool alone)
Impact Wrench 29297 (1 battery/charger kit)
Hammer Drill 29015 (kit)
Impact Driver 28128 (tool alone)
Recip Saw 26314 (tool alone)
Jig Saw 28127 (tool alone)
7-1/4" Circular Saw 28102 (tool alone)
LED Light 28103 (light alone)

The 20v Impact wrench went live on sears.com today. Check it out: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00929297000P?keyword=929297&sLevel=0

Also, the #28169 20v Drill is $100 off right now for Craftsman Club members at $169.99, the lowest price ever. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00929297000P?keyword=929297&sLevel=0

That drill has 500 in-lbs. of torque, a Jacobs ratcheting metal 1/2" single-sleeve chuck, Hi-Low ranges (0-350 RPM/0-1,300 RPM), 2 20v 2.3-Ah batteries, 50-minute charger and carry bag.

Seem to be going for the upper end with this line then aren't they?

The 4 piece 20v lithium kit is going for $480 compared to their regular 4 piece 19.2v kit going for $180?

Pretty steep.

Who makes the 20v platform?
