Looking for a bigger toolbox. Is this worth the money? I personally like the full length drawers in the top box.

Is this a good deal though? Not sure on these matco boxes as there is many different versions or trim models i guess.

Even at $1300 you're paying less than 1/4 of what that combo runs new. $5500 is probably a more realistic new price off of the truck. It's hard to say what kind of shape it's in from the photos, how smooth the drawers are, what the paint is like, or if he has the keys. There is a limit on how many times a person can get something for nothing.:bounce:
It's not their top of the line box but, it's not a bad box either.

Ive had the US general box and recently sold it to buy a higher quality box. I would imagine this will suit my needs much better as i finish school this next semester with an auto tech degree.

I don't think you could touch that combo for $1500 even with your student discount.

I couldnt get the bottom box for $1500 with my discount alone.

I do understand your point, but I've purchased expensive items from people using personal checks, and I've also pulled out my laptop with EVDO card and PayPal'd them money while they watched. I've also heard of people inspecting an item, making a deal, and then saying "OK, I'll be back with a bank check or money order tomorrow". All of those situations are less desirable to a seller than cash: personal check could bounce, be stolen, etc.; PayPal has fees, and can be a pain to access the money; and if the buyer goes to get an MO or bank check, they may change their mind and never return (plus you have to go cash it, etc.)

I'm looking for one of those tops, hopefully in black, to go with my 4725. Don't see many around my end of the country. and especially not for bargain prices.
Wish it was closer, mind you, I would try to knock him down to 1200 myself.:)

lowball the guy, NEVER offer asking price. 90% of the time the price is negotiable. If you think it's worth $1500 (seem fair to me), take $1500 with you, but put $1200 in your wallet and $300 elsewhere.
Bargain for the $1200, tell him that's what you can pay for it. If he says no and you still want it, then you can pull out the "well, I was going to buy xxxx from somebody else, also, but I guess I'll just get this" and break out the $300 from your pocket. However, if they see $1500 from the get-go, well, they'll want their $1500, and you can forget bargaining.

I would offer a $1,000 first...Nothing like letting them see the cash and go from there.

I aid $1200 for that lower box alone this spring. I think that he's hurting and this is a GOOD deal.

That's one of those "low end" Matco boxes. I wouldn't buy it at that price. That reminds me, why do "high end" toolbox makers have a line of "low end" boxes? :wtf:

Yeah thanks a lot buddy. I think that this is a Series 4 box, meaning that it has the least amount of configurable options BUT is made out of the same steel as the Series 5 and 6 boxes...
The less money I spend on this, the more I can fill it... :o)
You should know that one! In your case, it means more high end Macintosh Computers displaying 20 pt fonts to read. :o)

Are you sure about that? And aren't you the guy with the restored Nissan White Matco 6S box? :headscrat

Geez Merc, you've got to chill out a little. Guys buying a major box and you're pissing all over him... It's a nice box for the dough. Having just sold two Snap-on tool boxes on Craigs List yesterday and helping the last yahoo push it into his Chevy Caviler or whatever's back seat, I'd show up with cash AND a trailer! Offer to haul that baby away on the spot! That should get you a price break.
