Help Me With My Grease Gun

I just bought a miniture grease gun but I can not find the canisters of grease to put in it. Would it be OK just to open the bottom and pack some greae it there without the tube of grease that normally goes in it?

I've filled some normal size this way and a small one for my chain saw. A lot of them have a plug on top you can remove and they have large fittings you screw in and fill from a small pump that fits on a five gallon bucket of grease. This is the way I fill my grease guns.

if you still have one of the old carterages you can also refill the carterage, but otherwise yes you can.
I have one of those as well and they are very handy, last I saw we can still get the carterages here
