Caff -

half a ton. Buy a Wal-Mart window shaker and stuff it thru the wall.

nice. I actually laid in bed last nite worrying that you had one of those east coast basement garages with no windows at all. The other solution is a separate condensor/evap unit; they're real popular in Asia and we use them for computer room applications - they even come with a remote!

BTW - the car is very cool. really like the tractor grille...

4 or 5k btu should make it a meat locker....I cool 1000 sq. ft. with a 40 yr. old 12K btu...had it about 50 degrees in there over the holiday with an outside ambient of 90+.....

I would say 1/2 a ton would do but 1 ton would help you recover quick if you opened the door or something.
