Professional-grade, easy-to-use tune-up tool. View and adjust base timing and overall ignition advance on Conventional and DIS (Distributorless) 2 and 4-cycle ignition systems. Slim rotating barrel for compact spaces with optically-tuned lens for a clear, bright flash. Digital readout displays RPM, Ignition Advance, Battery/Alternator Voltage and Dwell readings. Serviceable Leads include Metal pickup which withstands heat, fits 10 mm ignition wires and uses heavy-duty battery and Dwell clamps. Plastic storage case. Will be $159.99 in '09 Annual Catalog.

I am in the market for a timing light, and this caught my eye. I have been using my dads Craftsman (Model# 21027 basic chrome point & shoot) but I need to get my own.

It will mainly be used on my Toyota and VW bug.

I have looked at timing guns by the big three truck brands, but for the same price or higher they only offer a basic point & shoot.

I would prefer to buy something new, instead of chancing eBay or a pawn shop.

Thanks guys!

We bought one of the earlier models out at the airport to time the ground service equipment. (Airplane magnetos are timed statically, we call a timing light a "buzz box". It's basically a vibrating relay, used to synch the opening of the points and adjust their opening time.)

I thought it was a pretty good timing light. Ours looked the same but didn't have all the electronic features. As I recall, it was also brighter than my old "point and shoot" Craftsman. You could actually see the timing marks without spending five minutes to roll all the hangar doors closed, which would piss everybody off in the summer.

Looks like a rebadged Innova, same price though. Maybe cheaper elsewhere online?

Yeah that's what I figured. I did find some places that had it cheaper, I am only concerned with functionality and/or longevity.
