Seem like Proto is re-branding the OTC bearing splitter.

OTC:

Proto:

Does anybody know whether the old Proto bearing splitter is better than the OTC. I can get a new Proto set for $180 at the swap meet. Does anybody know whether the OTC set is made in the USA. I know the old proto set is made in USA.

I'm thinking it's the other way around - OTC is re-branding the Proto set. ;)

As Stanley and OTC are using foreign suppliers it is much easier to accomplish this.

A whole lot of Proto's sideline tools are rebranded from other makers. I see stuff from Lisle, OTC, and other that are in Proto's product line. I think the only tools Stanley-Proto makes themselves are all of the wrenches (except adjustables), all the ratchets, and sockets, and I believe most of their pliers are specifically Proto as well (not rebranded from Stanley ordinary line).

I'm a big fan of Proto wrenches, ratchets, and sockets. I even have a couple pairs of their pliers, slip-joint and diagonal cutters. They all have seen lots of use and I have always been pleased with those particular tools. Though truth be told, for pliers most of mine are made by Channellock and some from Klien, and I think these guys make better pliers han anyone else. Have always prefered those two makers for my pliers that I use.
