I found this Mac box on CL and I am wondering what to offer the guy.He is asking $400 but instantly said thats not his bottom line.I am thinking around $150 or so based on the amount of work it will need.

do not low ball him to much and do it in person presonally i would start at 200 and hpe that was not too low and piss him off if I got it for 300 I would be tickles as the drawer configuartion is killer for my needs.

BTW I have a newer version of the top box from the early 80s and love it to death it holds 600lbs of tools easily.

well is all slides work fine or heavy wear out? I am not big fan of friction slide but i like the old style boxes as it is heavy metal and strong kind of box... it need test to see if you like or not.. i am always test everything before i decide to buy...

I personally wouldn't get caught up in how shiny it is. That is a solid box for that kind of money. Proof is in the fact of what 400 dollars would get you for a brand new box. So what if it is a little scuffed, it is still a great box that will last for many more decades.

Start at $200 and work your way up,in person, not over the phone.

And have the money with you, I hate it when someone wants to have you set a price and then wants me to hold the item. Yeah, I'll hold it until the first person with cash comes along.:headscrat

Start at $250. If everything is straight and works well, it's easy enough to paint the outside of it.
