Over on ToolGuyd, I took a look at Google Trends and pit several tool brands against each other just for kicks. Then, with surprising results, I did a comparison between "made in usa" and "made in china."

Can anyone find other patterns or trends that might be interesting?

Mac seems to be getting way more searches than Matco, SK, Craftsman or Proto, by about 142 to 1. Look here. (http://www.google.com/trends?q=proto%2C+mac%2Cmatco%2Csk%2Ccraftsman&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0) Maybe that means that folks know where to find those others, but Mac's website is a pain to find?
Snapon is dropped, because there weren't enough Snapon searches to register, and the google trends feature only compares the first 5 terms.

You need to consider that "Mac" can refer to entities other than the tool company. That's why when comparing power tool companies I searched for "brand tools". Plus, narrow it down to the US region only.

Yep. Not sure if that means that it's is a great time to buy. Perhaps brands and retailers issue steep discounts to stay competitive, but then again they know that people will buy anyways at this time. Plus, those buying cordless tools as holiday gifts may not be aware as to what a good price should be.
