Another new guy: pics of my garage!

I'm from over at NICO, I saw garagejunky's post about this board and thought I'd register.

My garage isnt nearly as nice as some of you guys, but its mine and I'm proud of it. I spend tons of time in there so I think it needs a few upgrades (how bout a heater?! Its cold outside!!), but here she is:

The car in there is a 1993 Nissan 240sx, the engine there is the one thats in the car now: fully built and turbocharged stock engine. I'll be starting the car for the first time within the next week or so- dyno should show close to 500 hp/tq at the wheels. ;)

damn, that's impressive getting 500hp out of that engine. what did you have to modify on the driveline for that amount of power?

many of us on here feel that the down and dirty garages are just as nice as anything else, so don't feel left out.

My 1992 240SX 5 speed is a daily driver. Bought it new in 92. I love the car. Got an intake and exhaust and removed the fan and installed 2 electric fans. Mobil 1 & MT-90 in the Trans & rear since birth. It runs perfect. I love the steelies on the car too. i SEE YOU

Hey Buyme, nice to see there are some other S13 owners here! I love the car, I'm sure you feel the same about it. This is my 2nd one, and honestly its killing me that I havnt been able to drive her for the past couple months that she's been undergoing surgery....

Its not a SR20, its the stock engine: the KA24DE. Well, it used to be stock ;) Basically its fully built, T3/T04E .50 trim turbo, methanol injection and the AEM EMS controlling the mix. To answer your question Luckydevil, the drivetrain is largly stock except for the clutch and differential. This car has been shown many times to handle the abuse of 500ish horsepower and torque, I'm hoping that my setup wont be any different.

Ill be sure to keep you guys posted on how it all goes when I dyno it next month :D

This pic is a week or so old.. the intercooler is completely mounted now (you can see it is somewhat sideways there), bumper and cover is on, intake is setup and a bunch of wiring is done. Just a few more things to do and I'll be cranking her up!

Is there a reason why, you went with the USDM motor, rather than an SR20 swap? Are you trying to stay in some kind of race class, or you just wanted to?

alof of people go with the usdm engine because of the hastle of getting engines like the sr20, ca18, etc... here and leagalized, and the stock engine is also very capable of putting down some serious power if built right

I chose the USDM engine for lots of reasons:

-This is a bigger engine: 2.4L compared to 2.0. Consequentially you tend to have a lower-reving torquier engine versus the SR which typically is higher reving lower torque. I prefer torque over revs ;)
-Parts are available just about everywhere you look. Not so for the JDM motors..
-This engine has an iron block, the SR's is aluminum...
-This engine is perfect for a turbo after building it. It has a solid valve train, under piston oil squirters, forged crank from the factory, and pretty good flow characteristics.
-Ive driven in both turbo KA cars and SR cars, and I just like the feel + response of the KA better.
-Having the engine come out of my own car, and then building it to my specs is much nicer than crossing your fingers and hoping that some junkard engine shipped overseas (with an unknown history) will hold up under serious boost.
-Its cooler and not nearly as common

There are plenty more reasons but those are the main ones.

I think we have more SR20 swaps here in Toronto, then we have stock engines in 240's. They're all over the place. I've seen a couple KA engines that have been turbo'ed, but I don't think either of them were built. Unfortunately one of them blew, but it was being used as a road race car, and the turbo and fuel setup was pretty half assed.

If I had the chance, I would go with a RWD car as well. FWD and power just don't mix on the road.
