I picked this chest up at a swap meet yesterday for $40. It's a Craftsman; the seller claimed it was built for Sears by Kennedy, can anyone confirm that was the case? My guess is that it dates from sometime in the 1950s or possibly early 1960s. It's pretty grimy but otherwise is in good condition (so far I've only cleaned the drawer cover on the front so you can see just how greasy the rest of it is.) There's some surface rust around the bottom edges but not enough to worry much about. There's a billiard table repair shop right around the corner from my office, so I may stop by and see if I can get some replacement felt for the drawers.

I found a very similar chest last fall in mint shape for 40 bucks. It has the same drawer pulls as your does, as well as the same logo. In favt, my avatar is a closeup pic of the logo on the box. I was told it was probably from the 60's. Good find!

Other than the CRaftsman logo it is nearly identical to my 1960's Kennedy 7 drawer chest - my vote is CORRECT!

I am almost 100% positive that one is a Kennedy, in later years the Craftsman machinist boxes were made by Waterloo I believe.

Thanks - I thought it looked like a Kennedy but wanted some reassurance.

I have a VERY similar one. Indeed kennedy for sears. Kennedy can source any parts you need still.
