I'll only be using it a few times per month, so no need for anything fancy. I've seen the 1/0 gauge crimpers go for $50-$200.

I checked Harbor Freight and ebay with no luck.

Any ideas?

The inner egde of a set of bolt cutters works pretty well. Where the handles come together up by the joint, not the side that cuts ;)

I've got one. I might be able to let it go - not sure though. I had to go through a lot of **** to get it.

What exactly are you crimping?

Thanks guys, I've been able to find some nice hammer crimpers online for less than $20.

BMWPower- It is for amplifier power wire. Let me know if you want to sell the one you have. Only if you don't need it or use it of course.

This is the one I decided on...

Holy $hit that's big wire for an amp.

I'm not exact sure what you're crimping on the end or if it's for home or car, but it shouldn't matter... a better way to secure a terminal on a wire (I assume you're wanting to crimp a terminal on the wire) is to put the terminal in a vise, end up. Then heat it up with a torch while adding solder to the terminal end. Then stick the end of the wire into the terminal. The solder fuses the wire to the terminal and gives you a better connection that merely crimping... just a thought.

For a 1500watt rms amp it is a must. Technically I could get away with 2 gauge, but it is an uncommon size and easier to get 0/1 gauge. I'll be crimping the ends and using a butane torch to solder them also.

It ain't a stereo unless it is measured in kilowatts. :shocking:

I also do car audio now, the crimper you chose will get the job done, but... you need to get it on the floor or a good solid surface. I jawed/handle ones are needed for in car short wires that you can't get out of the vehicle. I use both types frequently.

Just an update, I got the hammer crimper and it works great. Definitely a good buy for under $20.
