i've got the pair from matco which are getting kinda nicked up. I would like to get another pair or two for my trail tools. when they are new they will cut through just about anything. I just happened to hit some metal w/ the pair at work, and they are no longer as nice as they once were. lol

I've got something similar to the bottom ones from Fiskars, got them on clearance at Wal Mart. Pampered Chef also has some similar shears that aren't to expensive.

They look to me like something Fiskars would make. I'm sure they could be ordered from someone on Amazon. But check walmart first.

Here`s the homepage of "Astor" from Taiwan, they also offer them, i don`t know if they make them but the SO site states that the scissors are from Taiwan:

The same ones are also offered by Facom and "MOB-outillage" and "Kiesel"

Stick Figure - what kind of material do you normally cut with them?

i picked up the matco twin pack when they first came out. The work pair is used primarily on a heavy duty hydraulic hose that we use for oil return, as well as regular automotive hoses, small gauge wire, etc. The home pair, goes to the junkyard w/ to cut whatever is in the way that isn't a solid piece of metal. They have also been used to trim bushes in a pinch! The work pair has just gotten a bit dull so i would like to replace them, as well as add a pair to my trail tools bag.

On rubber hoses, I get a pretty good cut out of Klein copper cable cutters; they have the curved jaws that hold the hose in place as you're squeezing down on them and produce a nice square cut.

how big of a hose will those work w/? the size of the hydraulic hose i'm cutting most often is 5/8"

I have a pair of those. They can be re-sharpened too! If you want a used pair I would trade or sell them for $16 shipped as I almost never use them.

5/8" is too big... they'll do a wonderful cut on 3/8" though. ;)

thats what i figured .... those shears actually are pretty nice pieces when sharp. Not sure if matco would actually warranty them or not, but i would still like to pick up another set or two.

I think "Nusharp (http://kk0160.handtool.org.tw/T5003ListCmdyData?&y_SketchName=Sketch1-2_Hi178&y_HrefId=6823&y_HostId=&y_CompId=216&&y_MuId=&y_NowPage=3)" is the original manufacturer ("Mini-Max Multi-Purpose Heavy Duty Shears"). They also have the electricians shears which you also will find rebadged often.
