I've always had a female quick connect on the compressor, but I switched to CEJN and don't feel like wasting any of the expensive connectors. Any reason not to change the fitting on my hose to a female NPT and hooking it directly and permanently, without a quick connection?
Just a barbed npt ok, or should I be looking for something crimped?

If the hose bursts you better have a way of shutting off the air. I have direct hook ups but have a ball valve before the hose.

I'll sencond this as the #1 reason to have a coupler at the compressor, or a ball valve shut-off. Trying to get to the breaker box with an air hose whipping around is not the most fun.

I put 1" FMC hammer unions on each end of the braided, stainless steel, Teflon lined, hose I have between the ball valve on the air tank, and the wall mounted filter/regulator.
