Here's my set up at at the Dodge dealership where I apprentice. The Stack-On box is mine, while the Matco chest was provided to me as part of the apprenticeship, as well as a basic toolkit. However, they took so long in actually getting the tools to me I just brought in my own two weeks after I started and don't use more than three or four of the ones they gave me.

I was working out of a Craftsman three-drawer road box for a while before I brought in the Stack-On. The table the Stack-On is sitting on is an old typewriter table, which had been in my garage for years just taking up space.

I apologize for the bluriness of the photos, they were taken with my cell phone.

My whole setup. The cabinet above is mine as well. Forgive the mess, the shop is very old, and to quote my senior mechanic, "Ridden hard and put away wet."

The top of my Stack-On box. I keep all my most used tools here except the wrenches. The strip that holds my deep sockets I got at Lowes for about thirteen bucks. It's great, but I wish the magnetic strip was more powerful. If I close the lid any harder than feather soft all the sockets drop off it. The magnet holding the three bits is off a tweeter that I replaced in a car. The air ratchet is a Craftsman 3/8" drive, and the photo is of my wonderful girlfriend. Awww.

I usually just use the 13 wrench and my grandpa's hammer. Box end over the plug, and wail on the open end. It's a Craftsman wrench, and Sear's is right across the street, so no biggie. The hammer head started to come off the handle, but I just put a small coat of gray silicone on the end, and it's holding up great.

The underside of the cabinet. The tool chest has a work surface which I use quite a bit, but come 3PM it starts getting dark around my area of the shop. So I went to Home Depot and got some halogen puck lights. To mount them I bought some neodymium magnets and siliconed them to the back of the light with gray engine silicone. Then I mounted a power strip to the side of my cabinet and ran an extension cord to the nearest outlet, which you can see in the work bench photo. The result can be seen in the next photo.

I work at Tustin Dodge, and live in Santa Ana, CA. From what I've been told, the dealership was built back in the '70s, along with most of the rest of the auto center. The most recent improvement was the construction of a parking garage about six or seven years ago, and refacing the front of the dealership to Chrysler standards.

I actually prefer having a slightly smaller box, since it forces me to come up with unique organizations and solutions. That said, having a bigger box right now wouldn't hurt!

Dust... you've got quite a nice little start going there. As mentioned good proof you don't have to own a bunch of $$ in tools to make a living working on them. Although as you gain more skill, etc you'll grow to appreciate specialty tools to make the job quicker, etc. Just don't get caught up in the "tool truck credit" racket. I'm not saying don't buy from the tool truck... no certainly keep on making purchases... just pay cash. See if your guy will give you a little discount for cash vs. credit.

Good point! "tool envy" is a dangerous thing. Usually the lowest guy on the pole get's a lot of grief because of the basic tools that they have, and the box they keep them in. They are encouraged by truck vendors, and many of their peers to buy off the truck, and go into debt. Not a good thing!!

Stay lean, buy when good stuff is on sale (that includes Craftsman, KD and Lisle) and pick up tools that get repossessed from the guys that did go into debt.

Good luck --

That's a nice collection of cantilever boxes Elroy. I have two of that type and always liked that look -- real functional. My first real tool kit was a MAC basic service set in a beautiful red cantilever box.

Unfortunately, they seem to have lost much of their appeal. Everyone wants dawer type boxes. It's hard to find a nice, reasonably priced heavy duty cantilever box these days.

Elroy has found these boxes to be very functional over the years. Kennedy still offers them. The brown "Holley" box is a Kennedy. It's the smaller one they offer. That box is about 20 years old. Elroy paid like $50 for it then. They are over a $100 now.

The "Black" box shown here is a Remline. Picked it up at Walmart maybe 25 years ago. If Elroy recalls correctly, it was only $20 or so. Should have pick up two.

oh man!! i missed Chrysler dealership job!! i am former chrysler technician and i love to work for chrysler but my dealership closed down chrysler and transfer me to Mercury and Lincoln dealership. they want keep me work for them even they knew i tried to find other job but they keep pay me to stay.

so i has small box when i started internship for independent shop 6 years ago (2003). but while 2.5 years, i got upgraded to 40 in wide boxes. then i quit because pay suck and too much hours in less pay for part time. so i got other job offered by my friend at chrysler dealership (i am still work same job when i got offered) i got upgraded again from 40 in wides to 54 in snap on KRl1001.. then 2 years later i found used KRL1203 for 600 dollars but i offered the tech 450 dollars, i paid cash and took it home. i told my snap on guy to find me a used KRL1003 to match my snap on top chest. he did it and i am happy to have both same color boxes.

there is a picture when i has craftsman 40 in chest, mac tool bottom, and craftsman bottom when i started work for chrysler dealership. after almost three years at same dealership, i already own biggest boxes in my work... Worse is techs will ask me for borrow the tools or need some of tools to work... i am not happy but i keep tell them to buy themself!!! my KRl1203 and KRL1003 keep all tools and special tools that i can do damn anything on chrysler, jeep, and dodge vehicles!!!

the one problem is i don't have girlfriend picture... so i am single and busy to make money for living...

First the inside box that sits in my room for building computers and other Misc. Got it when I was probably 6 or so, which means it has seen lots of abuse

Next up is my 1/2 drive chrome stuff. I would have this in the tool box but I ran out of room.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been waiting a long time to to be able to get boxes like these. I ordered the KRL722A specifically because of it's lower height but whilst waiting for it to arrive I'd started to question my choice.

Now that's it's here I'm doubly glad I got the 722 as I can see into the top of my Road Chest easily. From a 40", Mastercraft, twice-dropped, twice welded-up, much-abused roll cab and $300 26" top chest to these two boxes was quite the upgrade for me!

I'll have everything transfered and organised some time this week and will post pics at that time.

Hello All

As promised, here are some pics inside my new toolboxes, now that I have my stuff half-ass transferred and organised.

Unfortunately I can't really 'spread out" between both boxes as I work on the road a lot and have to have all the essentials in my top chest. Also I only need metric stuff in my road box. For this reason my bottom chest is used mainly for measuring and specialty tools, duplicates, air tools and standard sizes.

Air tools, disks, burrs etc. I'm sure most of you know this already but for those that don't; That thing mounted to the ugly, chrome, child labour produced looking die grinder is a home-made flapper wheel. This can be used for such things as cleaning up the inside bore of a pulley before mounting on a shaft. You just take a 1/4" bolt, cut the head off and then make a slit in the end with a hacksaw or very thin cut off wheel. Then you just take regular (and free at work to a lot of techs) emery cloth and fold it and slide into the slit. It also kinda helps if you make an "S" shape with the emery cloth, with the ends of the "S" trailing the direction of rotation.

garfunkle24... thats a heck of a good setup! What are you using in that road box to divide up the areas like where you have the big Knipex's and stuff? Is that just that stick down plastic drawer divider stuff? What sort of service calls do you do? Just curious...

Stanger

I've only used two of them and even then only briefly. I can't really say more than that they are comfortable to use, have nice fit and finish and look cool.

As well as being the lead tech for the company I work for I am actually the Canadian sales and service manager. This mean that sometimes I can go quite a stretch without working on a machine, which has been the case since I got those. I am back into services now though and I'm sure they will see a lot of use very soon. Stay tuned!

ps. They were a gift to me from an Austrian colleague. Free is my favourite price!

Justinmc

The drawer divider stuff is actually 2 different products. The orange stuff is Snap-on that I had laying around. I had actually ordered some more of this with my boxes, but it was out of stock. I wanted to get my stuff transferred before we got into services again so I went and bought the black stuff locally, I'm not sure of the brand. They both work well, the main difference being that the black stuff is a 'T' shape in cross-section while the Snap-on is 'L' shaped. In practise this means that the Snap-on stuff is easier to work with, getting the joints to butt up nicely etc. Btw, if you are as fussy as I am, it takes forever to lay out like that.

This is what I work on:
http://photos-d.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v155/141/74/625182002/n625182002_523667_2442.jpg

It is specialised Austrian farm research equipment (mainly combines). It's interesting and I get to play with both huge tools and tiny precision ones. They have some cool electronics, such as advanced weigh systems, infra-red spectrometry systems, GPS, CANBUS controllers etc.

Me and two other techs do all of the service work for Canada. I work as far West as British Columbia and as far East as the Maritimes. As a general rule if it's around or less than 1000kms we drive, if it's more we fly (the shitty ass flight toolbox is a whole other story).

A service to us is basically a pre-season inspection, maintenance and repair of a combine. We have combines ranging from the size of a minivan to the same size as a commercial unit.

I have two pry bars in each size as I often use them in pairs to pull off a bearing or something similar. Also, I had the red ones first. When they released the new style, I decided I wanted some that I could beat the living s**t out of.

I have two sets of heel bars (although one is fixed, one indexing) for the same reason.

I spent a while staring at that horrible low-res picture trying to figure out if you were joking or not, giving up only when my eyes were completely wrecked.

Andy

The main difference is that the road chest is built out of heavier steel than the regular boxes (mainly 16ga i think). The box isn't isn't that big but weighs ~200lbs empty. Also they use friction slides as they actually hold up a lot better for road work. The front cover keeps dust and some moisture off of the tools. Also, once I have enough duplicate tools I will leave that one loaded and work out of just my roll cab.

Eschoendorff

Thanks for the compliment. Ever since I started reading this board I've taken an interest in the Facom stuff. I go to England about once a year, so I have a buddy buying and saving some stuff for me, as it's easier for him to get. The Matco road chest has roller bearing slides, but most guys who actually use road chests for road service work prefer the friction slides. Ball bearing slides get beat to shit after a couple of thousand miles on the road, friction slides don't suffer the same problems.

I've got the same Snap-on road chest from when I used to work out of a service truck, and had the chance to trade it in on a Matco version, but turned it down because I've head horror stories about the average lifespan of the slides on that box. Now that I'm not working out of a road chest anymore, I might take him up on that offer as it'd make a nice home garage box.

Severed, That is one hell of a blue s/o box setup... I'm loving the triple bay! That S/O blue is awesome. Do you guys do general work or specialize in one or two car lines?

Well come May it will be 5 years total in the field with no school all on the job training. However I am now a Master ASE and a I-CAR Platuimn certified. And I did have a good teacher he had over 25 years in the field so has seen a lot. My boss is the same way and is always teaching me some old school trick to make it easier. And we work on anything that comes in the door, Alot of chevys but get a little bit of everything. We live about 10 miles from an Air Force base and get a lot of work from people that cant drive in the snow. We have seen everything from Lotus' to Ferraris to the 09 Charger with less then 3000 miles that I am just finishing.

And Peterbuilt I saw one of the new carts on the truck last week they look a lot nicer then the last bluepoint one that looks close to the samething

I got mine for a steal it was in a buddys garage but just happend to be almost the right one (it is 4" shorter then the box if you look close you can see it in the pic) I did some trading and its mine. It has been really handy for what I needed i want another one for the other side but it will have to wait for a little bit.

It's a 65 my wife found on Craig's List. 289 2bbl. Dual exhaust w/o H-pipe. C4 (my wife isn't too keen on a stick). It was running when we bought it for a very reasonable price. Interior is fine except the dash needs to be repainted. The (new) carpet was appearently installed by a retarded monkey. They cut a hole for the gas pedal... :headscrat

Exterior is another story. It looks like it was painted with a roller... Engine runs but is down on power, leaks oil out of 27 different places.

I put in new H4 headlights, new radio, an amp, speakers, rear springs, 1" front sway bar (best $80 I ever spent...) We drove it for a while but then decided to really fix it. My brother-in-law has a fox body that he takes to the strip. He and his friends have a lot of "low performance" engine parts laying around. I bought a freshly machined 302 block with new pistons from him for $200. Then he found me a 4bbl Ford intake and Holley carb for $40 total. Before he gave it to me, he even put the intake in the hot tank at work and then painted it... I'm almost ready to pull the old engine. I'll keep that one, but once I have the body cleaned up and painted, I'll put the 302 in so we can drive it again. I want to get it drivable sooner rather than later (my wife is bugging me about it, too :) Later on, I'll restore the 289 and eventually swap it back in.

Sorry, I don't really have any other good pics except the 300+ I took so far during disassembly. Those aren't very exciting, though...

Yeah, it doesn't wake up the whole house (or neighborhood :). I have to get it exchanged, though. It's had a small air leak since I bought it. I just haven't gotten around to it... Works fine, though.

The aircat tool where the noise makes the biggest difference is the angle grinder, since you run it much more. Plus it has a trigger that doesn't pinch you. I love that thing.

Nice '65. I'm in the middle of my '66 right now. I'm keeping the 289 with a few mild upgrades. The C4 has been rebuilt and I'm going through the suspension right now. Shelby drop, drop coils, the usual. The project is taking forever though since I'm pretty picky about stuff. I started saying I would just rebuild the suspension but then I was sandblasting and refinishing EVERYTHING. I would also probably have it done if I hadn't been working on this car non-stop...

I don't think I'll drop mine (well, maybe a bit in the front so it actually sits level). If I want handling, my daily driver is very, very hard to beat (should be identifiable from one of the pics above)...

I'm in the same boat as you: I only wanted to pull the engine, replace all the gaskets, put it back in, and have it painted. Now, I'm taking every damn bracket down to bare metal...

Thanks! I use the 22" Cobras constantly and they basically act as big ass pliers, chain wrench and pipe wrench in one. Most commonly I use them on an adjuster which is 2 hubs (approx 7 -8" diam) that thread together. It is used to adjust the pulley on a variable speed drive. Both pieces are made of cast. A chain wrench does kinda work but often slips and the pipe wrench's teeth (it's a Rigid) aren't hard enough to bite in. So for this job, my Cobras work the best for me.

Severed

Great looking boxes and tools. Can I assume the box marked "Off limits - Do not touch" is your good set of drill bits? I don't let anyone touch mine either.

JimL

Great looking box and tools. Is that a KRL722 or 1022?

Zuspiel

Again, great looking tools and boxes. Who is the manafacurer of the hex bits in the holder with the clear cover? Thought they might be PB Swiss. They look really nice, how do you like them?

Anyway, thought I'd add a couple of pics that I missed in my last post, just some sets etc:

My ratchets. Please note that I probably have another 20 -25 ratchets but I am a tool "minimalist". I only keep the best of my stuff in my work boxes. I'm not one of those guys who likes to keep all his extra/duplicate/crap stuff in his box 'just in case'. As soon as something in my box gets upgraded, it's goes home to the garage box.

Now that is one cool old Mustang!
Thanks. Unfortunately mine doesn't look like that yet. I'm working on a '70 Mach 1 428CJ R code for the same guy right now. It should be finished this spring.

Now that's a nice looking 'stang! And a nice car to work on to fund your project.
I don't think I'll drop mine (well, maybe a bit in the front so it actually sits level). If I want handling, my daily driver is very, very hard to beat (should be identifiable from one of the pics above)...

Thanks. I'm doing the drop and 17" wheels on the '66 so it will definitely be more restomod than restoration. I picked up on the M3 in the pics. Grabbed my attention right away, nice car.

Nothing wrong with engraved tools, heck, I wish all mine were engraved. I never let simple engraving slow down my purchases either.

(And before someone jumps my ass I have always avoided purchasing anything stolen!)

Great looking boxes and tools. Can I assume the box marked "Off limits - Do not touch" is your good set of drill bits? I don't let anyone touch mine either.

Thanks, It is my "good set" of bits it is just a set of HSS MAC bits but there all there, a couple people dont watch what they are doing with drill bits and dont care so I didnt want them touching, They are warrantied with Mac but if some one breaks one and then tosses it because its broke then I'm out. Its just easier and im really careful with them.

Again, great looking tools and boxes. Who is the manafacurer of the hex bits in the holder with the clear cover? Thought they might be PB Swiss. They look really nice, how do you like them?

Yep, they are PB Swiss. Almost too pretty to use. The holder is a really nice design, too. Both "lids" and the bit holder have gears at the hinge. You can clip it to your belt and when you open it, the bits stick out parallel to the ground and are held in that orientation. I'm planing to post some more pics in another thread. I've only had the bits for a couple of weeks, so I can't say how well they'll hold up. It looks like there's a clearcoat on top and I'm a bit worried about that. The color is in the metal, though. It's great to be able to tell from a distance if a bit is phillips or posi... Bottom line: I like them a lot :)

Anyway, thought I'd add a couple of pics that I missed in my last post, just some sets etc:

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v549/141/74/625182002/n625182002_1603074_7909.jpg

Same here. I only use the ratchets in the toolcart plus the SH80 that's stored with the 1/2" sockets. Do you like having both the flex and non-flex stubbies? I have the flex and love it. I have a feeling the straight one would lead to more skinned knuckels for me... :)

Nothing wrong with a restomod. I do like the look of the sculpted steel wheels and the rest of the exterior, but that's just me. However, I've seen that you can buy the same style a bit bigger. I think that's what I'll eventually go for. Now, on the technical side, I will upgrade ours as much as I can afford. I just don't think that 4 drum brakes are a great idea. The disk brakes will have to wait, though. They cost too much...

Thanks. The E46 M3 is the car I have sworn they will have to pry from my dead cold hands :bounce:

Yeah, that is the same way the owner of the pictured car feels. He is all about retaining the original look. I like them both ways, but this car is going to lean towards restomod with a few subtle shelby parts, the wheels, and disk brakes. I bought this kit for front brakes. I thought it was the most complete and direct. It also includes the 67 dual master cylinder upgrade for safety. You need to run larger wheels for it though...
http://www.discbrakeswap.com/Mustang%20Disc%20Brake%20Conversion%20Kits%20SWAP2 .html

What is funny about my approach to the restoration is that some things will be concourse, and some modified. The control arms have been restored to the dipped look, all of the fasteners will be correct, phosphate and oil or otherwise, and the markings will all be recreated. I know I'm weird.

Thanks. The E46 M3 is the car I have sworn they will have to pry from my dead cold hands

Awesome find! Thanks for the link. I might put that on ours instead of buying another drum (right front drum is out-of-round). $525 seems like an excellent deal (I already did the power brake conversion with a dual master. My wife is 4'10" and I was scared for her life :) ) Any specific reason not the use the other kit they have, that fits on the original spindles and works with the original wheels?

I chose this kit because it was their only kit on ebay at the time and I had 10% off. Plus, it comes with new spindles, so I wouldn't have to worry about my old spindles being worn. However, if I was in your position, I would probably use the old kit. If your spindles aren't good, let me know. I have the two that came off of my car, and I think they're fine. I sandblasted them(not the machined surfaces) and sprayed them in black epoxy so they look like brand new.

OK, here are some crappy pictures of my box and tools. I'll get better pics after Christmas when the lighting is better and I have my Nikon D50.

Yeah, I like the setup. I think the construction is good, much better than Craftsman IMO. My only complaints are the depth of the middle section and top box. They should be deeper. Also, on light drawers, the slides seem to get really stiff when its cold. I received that setup as a gift for my 16th birthday(nope, no car here), so I didn't exactly pick it out. If it were my choice, I would have bought a used SO box off of Craigslist. But, yes, I like it, and since it was a gift from my parents, I'll likely have it forever. Slide capacity has not been a problem for me. I load them up and never think twice. There is usually a big heavy case of Facom body tools in the bottom drawer. The box seems to handle it fine.

Seems to work fine. It doesn't have a huge database of codes, but that's what the internet is for... I got it new(ish) off eBay for about $50. Worked fine on both my wife's suburban and our daughter's nissan maxima (both for diagnostics and resetting the MIL). If you don't have a higher end one, I'd say keep it.

Thanks. Unfortunately mine doesn't look like that yet. I'm working on a '70 Mach 1 428CJ R code for the same guy right now. It should be finished this spring.

I own a grabber blue H-code. Your username looks familiar, you're frequently on the VMF right? Been awhile since I've been on there, too busy with fixing up the garage instead of working on the stang.

Yeah, I used to hang out on the VMF and autobodystore site quite a bit. I haven't been on the VMF in quite some time either. I'm in the same situation as you. Between working on the garage, keeping up with classes, and working on other people's cars, my '66 never gets any love. I can't really complain though, I've had the opportunity to work on quite a few nice vehicles. Christmas break I'll be finishing up the '70 and starting to cut and buff a '68 GT500.:shocking:

A '70 H code is a nice car, I wish that was my project. After the '66 coupe, I'll be looking for a '69 M code. Good luck with your project. Post some pics and plans you have for the car if you have a chance. I'll try to grab some pics of the '70 I'm working on.

EDIT: I just notice you're a civil engineer. I'm studying to be mechanical myself.

Thanks, Yeah I'm not 100% sure I'm going to restore it, it's not tooo bad it does need a lock on it though. It's was my Grandfathers that he used sometime around when he started our business back in 62', I'm not exactly sure what year the box is though, has a lot of cool old tools in it as well. Yeah, these are my boxes at our shop, I'll try to get up pics of all my dads boxes at our garage at home at home later. That is indeed a customers 65' Ghia, good eye!

Lots of different types of tools, new, old, different brands, lots of storage, wide range for different types of work...always something interesting to look at, or to do. Ford/Dole, yeah!! No tool polishing there; a working mans shop! I think you probably have at least one tool, if not more then one to pick from; to tackle any job/repair they might throw at you! :) It looks like to me, you are a fan of used tools; its interesting to see all the range of styles, brands and eras you end up with; when you buy used! :)

You know Hholmberg, when I see a shop like yours it really makes me question some of my tool purchases/choices. I have full sets of four-way angle Snappy Wrenches and stuff like that. I also realise you have a lot of newer stuff like that too. What I am talking about is looking into the drawers of the jumbled up, mix and match, all different configuration wrenches and realising they could be made to work in many more applications and tight spots than my fancy new gear. Very cool collection as some have said, old/new and many brands etc.

Thankyou very much for sharing and hopefully over the years I can aquire such a fine set of tools.

I agree. What is it they say, there's a difference between a "house" and what is truly a "home".

Don't know how to complete the analogy using garage lingo, but you get the idea....................:)

Maybe.........It's not just a garage, but a real "mancave"???.

Hawk321, I noticed that Stahwille set and all your Hazet sockets!
As a German, can you give us a evalution of the Stahlwille and Hazet tools compared to Snapon? I escpecially like how German companies make the nice cases where all the pieces are organized and fit nicely in "their place"; I think it would be much hard to lose things thing way. In Germany, are the prices similar between the German stuff and Snapon? The fact that you have a Snapon bottom box and "Stack On" on top; a company that tried to benefit from the similarity in the brand name... is ironic and made me laugh! :) Another case of marketing and hoping you don't know the difference between the two, LOL! :)

@billymade

I know the difference between Snap-On and Stack-On !!! The Top Box was my first box ever and considered more for my cellar, not for the daily work!

The prices for Stahlwille and Hazet are normally 40-60% under Snap-On....the tools are more durable than Snap-On...btw. A lot of Snap-On tools are similar to old Belzer and Dowidat tools, both companies were bought in the early 90's by Snap-On.

Specially Snap-On is horrible expensive here. When you compare the genuine prices (so Snap-On $ prices in USA and Hazet Euro prices in Germany), then mostly Snap-On is cheaper...(except Wrenches and sockets with bits).

Example: An impact socket from Hazet cost ~8$ in Germany (yes $), the same socket from Snap-On will cost 20 $ at minimum.
A 3/8 7mm long Inhex (heavy duty) socket cost here 30 Euro, that is ~38 $...the same socket from Hazet or Stahlwille >>> 12 Euro.

But nothing came close...at the ratchets of Snap-On. And no german Tool box has the size and quality as snap-on. Snap-On's KRA2007 is cheaper, bigger and more stable than Hazet or Gedore!

When you like those metal boxes for tool kits...then try Facom or SK, same just in plastic. German manufactors produces more and more plastic cases, because you will have no dents and ugly scratches. One disadvantage: You loose a lot of space in your toolbox, the system with rails and plastic socket trays safe more your space and prevent your tools for stealing from unloved colleagues.

Anyway, in USA you have the better prices! Be glad, that you can buy Gearwrenches or Air Tools so cheap. Everything youy can buy at AST, Craftsman etc....is 40-60% cheaper than here, you get all these tools by other brands...look at Craftsman cobra thread...2 cobras for 14$ ?!?! You get one here for 18 Euro (1 Euro=1,42$)....
German Tools are good, sometimes superior...but who cares, when germans technicians get the cheap supermarket crap from the employer and onlya wage of 11$/h?

May be I buy a used Snap-On Top Chest from Ebay.uk....it's cheaper than here.

Elroy has also stated that he has owned Fords though. Which means Elroy probably has strange and mystical Ford tools that everyone else will question the usefulness of until a Ford guy shows up and say "Damn if would of had one of those that repair would of only taken 40 hours rather than 80.".

Were the old Proto/Mac/Matco boxes with the open drawer handles made in the same factory; they always look similar to me! :)

mac and matco certainly were but the older proto's were waterloo

Hawk - What kind of lug nut impact sockets are those?
@KLars1
These are original made by Hazet Sockets...had these BluePoint sockets...all broken...
at the top of them (Hazet) there is a plastic lip -longer then the socket itself- and the diameter of the socket is thinner than the bluepoints....good for expensive AMG rims.

Wohoo, your red Snap-On cab is great, big enough to live in it:bowdown:

@ Hawk321 + bchee:
Metec is specialized in workbenches, lockers and cabinets, they also make some toolboxes. The better ones are Gedore branded or are from Hazet, but for 240 Euros (about 330 $) it was the cheapest german made box I found ;-)

@hawk321: a couple of month ago i found this forum accidentally through a google search. Since then i read here and now decided to join.
I work for a "time-work" (temp-work ?) company, so i work one month here the other month or week there...etc....

that snap on box next to mine is slightly wider and 2" deeper. i like my cornwell box. its done me good so far. and it was way cheaper than a new snap on, matco or mac. i got it for $1200 with the canopy. there is a cover for the top, but i took it off so i could put my monitor up top and not be blocked.

also why there is Grace oil pump on your cornwell top box as used to pump the used oil out of oil drain tanks? my work has two grace oil pumps. few times i had to disassembled it to clean and replaced all parts inside because other tech dont keep screened funnel on drain tank which cause dirty stuffs in and Grace oil pump will suck it out but cause a problems inside as punch a little hole inside which cause oil leak out of pump's body...

thanks Deafautotech. its an ok box, it does the job for now. i dont have a cornwell dealer around here anymore either. he got out of the business a few months ago becasue nobody was buying cornwell tools. ive since moved all my business over to my snap-on dealer who IMO is a very good dealer, hes all about helping his customers. and the pump is the washer fluid pump for my shop, it just needed a new set of balls.

Here's my Britool box and most of my tools. It's nothing compared to some of the collections I have seen on this forum, but I'm 20 years old and I think I have a pretty good start. Enjoy.

Stuart, I am most impressed with the amount of tools you have amassed for your young age! I started in buying my tools at about 15-16 yrs old and it seems as though it took me many years to amass as many tools as you have! You go well armed indeed!

There are a few more items but Elroy is attemping to get them all stored away.

I saw that Altoids box and thought, "Holy shit that's a small drawer, or wow that is a small dial caliper!" Then I realized it said that it was the BIG box of Altoids and it all made sense.

Elroy, you are far to modest about your assortment of tools! I saw many good tools in there.

I saw the Greenlee Knock out punch set, very nice indeed. Are some of your body tools those Sears used to offer some years back?

At any rate, thanks for hosting a spin around yer box!

BTW: I use the same cheap label maker for my stuff.

Thanks a lot, I got a great deal on the box about 6 months ago at our local Princess Auto (Canadian equivalent to Harbor Freight) they bought a few of them for a one time only sale and I bought one before they sold out. I got it for $449 CDN. I have a few hand tools by Britool and they are excellent. It's cool you noticed the Gray tools I know they aren't well known in the states, very high quality and you can get them real cheap at the local flea markets and garage sales.

I love gray tools!!

As far as I know there are no Gray distributors in the states. :(

They claim to have distributors in the states but I haven't heard of any evidence either. I don't know how much shipping would cost to buy from a Canadian distributor, if there was a good deal it might be worth it.
