View Full Version : Screwdriver Lengths?

Seems that in every screwdriver brand I have ever seen, the shafts get longer as the tips get bigger. Is this a DIN/MIL or some other standard?

Just because I have a large screw head to turn, why is it automatic to assume that I need a 14 inch long driver to do the job?

What I'd really like is a set with all the blades about 100mm long.

Oh well, just venting...

Yeah, for real! Why are #1 Phillips and #2 Phillips usually the only "stubby" ones?

Good point / joining in your venting? :-)

Looking further, I find the widely reviled Stanley offers the FatMax Xtreme™ Demolition Drivers with 5" shafts in all sizes.
