allen universal joint

I need some advice on universal joints. My son is an auto tech student and we buy him tools for birthdays, Christmas etc. Menards has all of the Allen tools on sale this week and he needs a couple more universal joints in 1/4 and 3/8 and I was wondering if anyone has experience with them? I know that they're Danaher made, but are they basically the same as Armstrong? Armstrong claims that they have "a patented modified ear design that prevents lock-ups at extreme angles" (from their web site). Does anyone know if Allen has the same design. Thanks for the help

i has some of allen tools that i bought from Menards- it is good tools. i do see some of tools has mixed between Allen and Armstrongs... it is important to have the warranty if tool break...
