Do they give you a deal on the jackets?

I've found some great deals on Snap-on jackets on eBay. My latest, was the leather bomber jacket with the old fashioned logo, NWT $35. It's very nice. Last year I bought an all black coat for my son, and that was about $45 shipped NWT.

With each, I had no one bidding against me, so my guess is that not too many folks want these. The leather jacket went for so little, I actually felt bad for the seller.

Yeah, you know how you have to keep giving the wife, g/f, significant other bribes, err, I mean JEWELRY so that you can keep your dipstick wet? Well it's kind of the same thing when the SO dealer gives you things :D

If you did not like it, you could of declined it. I highly doubt that the dealer had to twist your arm to take it.

Considering the cash that was spent on the truck this year, they are VERY expensive... But I still like it...:bounce:

Are they Made is USA? (just curious)

I never get free coats, they never have a 4XL, and if they do, it is usually cut for a fat man, not a big man, there is a difference. My dealer tried to give me a nice jacket, the 2XL looked like a little half coat thing, LOL

I have to spend a bunch of money on 4XL Carhart coats to get one, so be happy with your free coat, ugly or not.

Clothing that is..... I should have known that was coming.
Well for years everyone has been hammered with the idea that snap on was the most expensive.... Look again. matco has risen above us in price. They even have a price comparison page on their site that will show the prices if you enter the part number of other companies....
I hear it more and more every day... " Matco is more expensive than you are"....

My dealer has been very generous with me, caps, coats, calenders. Anymore, I might take a cap every year, and a couple of calenders, what I miss are the stickers. No point in getting greedy, of my two heads, I only wear a cap on one.

sticker prices are getting stupid. I do not order them. if I do I have to order about 50 bucks worth to get just a few. ebay has the cheapest prices and the biggest variety. you can find the old ones there as well.

Surprisingly reasonable prices! I'll order if I can get it shipped to Canada without getting raped at the border...

That is what Tony told me.

I wish I had kept all the girlie clocks and drinking mugs that I had accumulated during the 90's.

I now have exactly NO girlie clocks, and ONE Stork mug, and ONE MAC drag racing mug.

Just curious as I do a lot of USA Made clothing for my Union clients. And yes, it's about twice the cost (net) for USA made vs. a comparable import. There are still a few sources, but they're dwindling quickly.

The issue seems not to be the making / assembly, but getting American made fabric anymore. I know of one Union shop that sews import fabric day in, day out.

And Snap-On is probably sourcing them direct overseas and doing the decoration overseas to save costs. Just to give you an idea: I can do 6,000 stitches of embroidery in the States for about $3.50. I can do it in China for 18 cents.

Who the heck turns down free stuff? Especially if you had to spend money to be given the "freebie" in the first place?

Clothing that is..... I should have known that was coming.

It is ironic, though. SO charges a premium in exchange for what they say are the best quality, US-made tools out there. Seems to be an issue of pride. So why not source a US-made coat and maintain the same standards of quality?

Or, are the coats seen as cheap incentives to give to people and to get the name out there in the public eye, with the understanding that no one is actually going to spend big money on a SO coat like they might a SO ratchet?:headscrat

My Snap-On guy passed out fliers about getting free jackets. If we opened a revolving account and paid it on time every week until January, we got a free jacket. Or if we had already spent three grand on his truck, we would also get a jacket.

Seeing as how I've only spent twenty-five bucks with him in the past 1.75 years he's been serving me, I probably won't be getting a jacket. Besides, I already have some jackets that I like.

I took it cause I spend the money with him anyway. It's not gross looking, but I don't love the grey. It is a work coat though.
I checked right after I got it, made in china.

for those who get freebies from your dealers, consider yourself lucky. I've had the same dealer for over 5 years(there was about a year w/ several job changes in there i never saw him, ended up working in a different state and he's still our rep). I'll guarantee I've spent at least $6K & have only gotten 1 hat from the SOB.

I know that doesn't seem like a lot of tool money, but keep in mind the vast majority of the time i've dealt with him i worked on lawn mowers/string trimmers/chainsaws/etc. Haven't had a tool box at work in a year(i work in parts now) and I still buy tools. he also has my credit card & get's a payment every week whether I'm there or out of town.
