VCT Questions

i've finally decided to do my 1 car garage with VCT Tiles. I'm eager to get started but its cold outside (long island, ny). its probably 30 degrees in my garage, maybe less. do you think its too cold to do this job? its a 1-year old new construction, clean "virgin" concrete. i dont want to have to wait until spring to do this. What do you think?

I would wait. Many of the adhesives have temp. requirements, and 30 degrees probably won't meet that. Your curing time will be longer in the cold, which might be a problem. If your thinking of using heat to warm up the garage to put the tile down, be carefull. Two problems arise that I can think of, many adhesives have solvents (boom effect), and just because the air meets the temp, your concrete might not. You probably have one big frozen rock to work with right know. I would wait until it warms up.

you could rent a "bullit" heater, crank it to like 90, then shut it and work. I would not use one while actually working with any type of adhesives that could possibly be flammable.

I am considering using the VCT floor treatment (I really liked my epoxy in my previous home. but the VCT looks so nice)
Is there any problems with chemicals or hot tires on it?
