I recently purchased the BAHCO 13 piece long pattern combination wrench set from www.overstock.com

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=1542640

and was highly impressed with them. The chrome finish is perfect, and the fit of the 12 pt broaching is also perfect. I'm an aircraft mechanic and have used them on 12 pt bolt heads and also on 6 pt heads and they are a very snug, perfect fit. The open end is also nice and smooth fit. The handles are not as wide as most wrenches but are thicker, very rounded so they don't cut your hands if you are pulling hard on them. $89 for the 13 pieces (1/4" to 1", and 11/32" is the only one I miss not having in the set) is a bargain. I got mine on a $1 shipping special, but regular shipping is only $2.95 anyhow, and some weekends the shipping is free.

Don't know how long they will last, but if you are considering a set of long pattern wrenches, these are as good as it gets.

How are the open ends when you put a load on them, do they spread? Also how large are the ends in other words how tight of a space can you get into with them.

I compared these today with a co-workers Snap-on long pattern wrenches and the heads are slightly thicker and a tad taller, but nothing to get concerned over. The handle was actually the same width as the SO but twice as thick and well rounded, the SO was somewhat sharp edged. I don't use open ends for much torque if I can help it, but what little I've used these, I don't think they would spread, these are a quality product, and US made.

I'll see if I can get some comparison pics.

I thought Bahco was owned by SnapOn. Isn't Bahco part of JH Williams group?

These wrenches from Overstock.com are indeed BAHCO/SnapOn.

The BAHCO history on their web site..........

http://www.bahco.com/asp/pubs/index.asp?lngMenuID=1255&lngID=1987

says that SnapOn acquired them in 1999 (and they of course operate as an independent company) but the history ends with 2004, and suddenly this dumping of all SnapOn related BAHCO tooling makes me wonder. I looked at the SnapOn corporate web site and their "European Presence" still lists BAHCO Grouip

http://corporate.snapon.com/display/europe.nws

So possibly this is simply a rework of the product lines or design.

These are quite nice wrenches, I have no qualms about using them, they will last me a lifetime, I'm sure.

Hell of a deal.

Sportsman's Guide was offering a 16-piece BAHCO set for $200-$225. This deal decimates the SG offering.

Gotta wonder about that website. It lists North America as a country...:wtf:

While browsing the catalog, the only things listed under "wrenches" are adjustable wrenches...but wait, there's a second "wrench" heading...except those are all pliers.:headscrat

Bahco appears to be only available in SAE; no Metrics ....
