I think there are a lot of guys out there who would love to build a garage, but they think it would be too expensive or too hard. A small pole barn is probably the best way to get a roof over your head and get all that stuff out of the rain. Concrete, insulation, doors and even walls can come later.
I have a 22x26 shed pole barn on the side of my stick framed barn. All the framing, metal roofing and siding was under 2800.00. I built it with a couple of teenagers in a literal month of Sundays, and had a BUNCH of new space to put junk, and it will actually hold three cars if I want. Gravel is on the floor now, but I expect that eventually it will get concrete, and become my woodworking shop. That is if I don't break down and put in a lift.
