I ordered a portable mid-rise scissors lift for my 2 car garage. The specs stated that the minimum pad hight was 4 3/4 inches. Well when it came yesterday and I started setting it up, there is one point that is 6 inches from the floor. Both of my cars are lowered and will not fir over the lift. I know I can put a few boards along side the lift to get the cars up on it but I was looking for a more professional/permanent solutions. Should I build a platform around the lift. If so what would you build it with and how would you cover it? I would like to cut out part of the floor, and pour a new pad 4 inches lower then the current floor but do not know how much $$$$$$ that would be. Also there is the issue of draining water from the new "pit" after washing the car. There is a floor drain in the garage now but I don't know it I could tie it in to the new "pit" due to the lower elevation of the "pit" floor. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. One car is currently sitting outside in this bitter cold New Jersey weather.....

Does the drain have a trap on it?

If it does have a trap on it, measure from the floor to the water line. This would be your invert elevation (inside bottom of outlet pipe). I'm not sure what size your drain line is, but I will guess 4". You could use a 4" street 90 in pvc and that would take up approx 5 inches. So if you recess the floor 4" and the 90 takes up 5", you have 9". Add in some pitch (1/8"per foot) and that should get you fairly close.

If you need more help PM me.

What does the manufacturer say about the claimed 4 inches? That seems like a huge point of contention if they (in writing) claimed a 4 inch minimum. Maybe they have some alternative parts to bring it down? I'd be all over them about that. Good luck
