Thanks... I'm going to pass then... assumed it would be good b/c of the name. I'm looking to replace my POS free-bee C-man one... what kind of torque rating does this SO have?

IM6500HP was a decent gun. Stay away from the XT7100, too many problem guns with that model. If you can find a used MG725, that would be your best bet.

I see them selling on CL for about $50 occasionally. Don't know if the IM510 is any better, but I had an IM51 which I think was its predecessor, and it wouldn't get out of its own way.

Are these all Snap-Ons? I assume they are coming from a SO dealer

I love my MG725, which I got barely used on eBay. It was $399, but came with both 1/2" SAE and Metric shallow Snap-on impact socket sets, and a Snap-on tool bag. I got another one in a collection recently and sold it to a buddy for $175. So $175-200 is about the range to look for... These are a complete re-design for Snap-on, and make all the diference. The 3/8" gun is the same story...the new one is hugely better than the IM31.

But I also can HIGHLY recommend the Ingersoll Rand IR 2135 Ti Max guns. They are quite a bit lighter, and 95% as powerful as the Snap-on MG725. I used one for a while and it was a great gun. Those sell used for $100-135, (assuming near new condition).

A lot of folks on here also rave about Aircat guns. I've never had one, but hear nothing but praise.

BTW, I know your pain using a Craftsman gun. I always though it was because of my 115v compressor not delivering enough air, until I got the IR gun. Then I knew what a POS the Craftsman gun was.

mg725 is the way to go you can get the mg725 cheap off ebay if you watch.
that im510 is a good trot line weight.

I have an IM6500 that i picked up off ebay in "working condition" but when i got it reverse was broken so i pulled it apart and found a broken hammer. replaced it and now its pretty good. It feels weak in reverse but consistently puts out 150 ft lbs in foward, which is what im more worried about.

Thanks for the suggestion guys... I'll be on the lookout.

While I'm at it what's a good model air ratchet to look for? The ratchet that came w/ the kit is crap too.

3/8? or 1/4"? either way id go snapon. the 1/4 can be had cheap on ebay and if you find a 3/8 one like a FAR72B or C you'll be happy. I found a broken one at a local swap meet and had my local snapon guy send it away for repair. so for about 120 i had a rebuilt ratchet

Don't get this gun. It's weak, old, and heavy. I highly recommend newer Ingersoll Rand (IR) guns. I havea few dor sale. Please PM me if you're interested in more details.

I am not even sure it would be good at that.

Which is better, IR 2100G or the 2135Ti? Looks like they sell used for similar prices.

My xt has been great, never had a problem with it. What problems have you seen with them? Mine just gets used at home and for side jobs now since I got my mg though.

The XT had a higher incidence of low power complaints as well as some trigger issues. The later production models seemed to have addressed these issues.
