Hi guys here are pics of where I am now. The garage is due for a makeover this summer. The shop is a total mess. Too much stuff, not enough room. Maybe larger shop in future.

Welcome to the site. That shop attached to the garage is very cool. It looks like you got your work cut out for you this summer though.

Thanks Luke. Great place you have here. I guess my pics a deceiving. My garage is built in the house. My shop is what is in the third and fouth pic above. The little attachment to the shop behind the yellow truck is for storing my lawn mower and yard tools. My shop is just reserved for working on my toys. Thanks again for the welcome. I still haven't seen all the pics here because of this sloooowwwww dial up.

Here's another pic of the garage.

Nice vette! You have a lot of room to work with there. Don't take this the wrong way but you might be more efficient in your work if the place was a little more organized. It would take me a year to find the ol' Ford wrench in that mess. You mentioned you have too much stuff, but with the size of you dedicated workshop it looks like you should have plenty of room if you organize all corectly.

What are the dimension of the shop? If you lined a couple of the walls around the perimiter of the shop with a built in work bench it would free up the center of the area and give you alot more work space. Just some idea's. Good luck and nice garage.

erok01 thanks for the kind words and no offense taken. You are correct organization is the key. Right now time is the problem, along with a lot of other excuses. My shop is 28 x 32. I used to run a chassis shop in it. On one wall I have a tubing rack and all of the extra steel tubing for those jobs. Along another wall I have a press, 2 pedastal grinders, 2 drill presses, a parts washer and a sink. On the back wall I have an engine lathe, a milling machine, a desk, filing cabinet, and a pile of future engine projects. I have open shelves everywhere I can but I don't like them. I intend to replace with cabinets in the future. I am fighting a real mouse/rat problem right now. Also I have some wood rot problems. I may havbe to remove some interioprwall and assess the damage before ht eclean up begins. At this point I really wich I would have built it taller and with steel. I have considered tearing it down and replacing it. Some of the shops on this and other forums make me drool.

I was thinking something like the way this guy has his shop set up. most of the tools and benches are along the perimeter and look at all his work area he has.

It sounds like you need to start asking the curent ocupants to help clean up around there :lol2:

I agree guys. The rodents have to go! I am working on a 82 GMC 3/4 ton truck I just bought as a beater work truck. After I clean it up and put it in service the plans for the garage and shop kick into high gear. I have open shelves now but the dirt dobbers make nests in anything they can. I plan to replace them with cabinets. I am really inspired by what I see on this board. I will post pics when things get rolling.

OK guys the garage cleanup has begun. Today I repainted the walls with a white semi gloss paint. I painted the cement below the walls with a gray patio paint. I also installed 2 new T8 light setups. The difference in brightness is WOW. I still have to paint the door to the house and the floor. Then I can hang some banners and pictures.

Runum,

Nice Vette, I have a '71 and I'm trying to find out little bits of info but the guys on Corvetteforum.com don't seem the most helpful.

Can you recommend any other Vette forums for advice?

Cheers, Golden.

Golden have you ever considered NCRS ( http://www.ncrs.org/)
Email me your questions and concerns. Maybe I can provide you some help. I was an NCRS judge for several years specializing in '69-'72 MY cars. Bill
