A while back I posted this thread about a problem I was having with multiple Craftsman compressors blowing my circuit breaker. I recently managed to arrange for my local Sears store to take back my year old compressor and allow me to exchange it for one that's not listed on their website. It's a Craftsman Professional 30 gal 5hp oil bath unit. It doesn't blow the circuit and actually seems to drive my tools better. As a bonus, it is about a third as loud as the oil-free unit it replaced.

I am interested in your new compressor. Can you give a few more details? Is it portable? 110 or 220? 2 stage? Any idea how much $$$$

I'm guessing it runs at 1725 RPM instead of the screaming 3450 RPM that the oilless units run.

Those oil-less ones are ridiculously loud. I've used them before, I would never buy one. No idea why they're so loud, but wilbilt may have hit the nail on the head right there.
