I'm doing some work on a friend's motorcycle. There is some wiring that goes within a few inches of the exhaust. We have already ordered the DEI heat sheaths to cover the wiring, but now I need a way to fasten them so they will not move.

Plastic zipties will melt and the smallest steel zipties I can find are 8". That is way too big for the 1/2" diameter heat sheath. I don't even think they could tighten down to that diameter.

Any ideas???

How about hose clamps or safety wire?

trim the metal zip tie with some snips, or if you can find a metal trashbag "twisty" that might work as well.

Good call on the hose clamps. I completely forgot they make them that small.

I can't believe how much they charge for the metal zipties. DEI sells 8 for $12, and a bag of 100 is $75.

If your concerned about the looks of normal hose clamps you could use Fuel Injection clamps or high pressure clamps. They look a little nicer then regular hose clamps.

Lacing cord might work as long as it doesn't contact the exhaust pipe. It's used to make those nice tight wire bundles on aircraft. They make it in different colors as well.
