Here are a few of the new counter top.. I am happy to say that I have waited and tried to shop right.. if you dont wait on the sales or an people to screw the counter up and bring it back to Home cheapo  I would have spent at least 4 times what I did on this little upgrade... I have $123 in product.. Looking at the pics it makes the little counter next to the tool box look like it is not level and it is running down from the wall.. I had the level on both of them.. Not sure what the deal is? Maybe it is just the way it looks in the pic? o well let me know what you think any how..

I tried to get a little closeup so you can see how the lap top sits on the new "shelf"

I've thought about doing that. I saw a sale flyer where they had 4 foot sections of counter top for about $10. That really got me thinking about it. Prefabbed counter tops are reasonably priced at the big home improvement stores. At my old house, I recovered the kitchen counter tops with new formica. It was alot of work, and then I later found out I could have bought new complete tops for about 10% more than I paid for formica :wtf:

Has anyone seen the formica that looks like steel marred by a grinder? I think it looks pretty cool, I may try to find that for my garage benches.

Yours looks great BTW.

Nice score! I got mine the same way and spent like $25 for a 6ft formica top. Is that the solid surface or formica top?

Interesting - I hit "quote" on the initial post and I see that there are links to photos. However, in just pulling up this thread, the links do not show in the post, just "blank" area..???????

There are pics in this thread. They are not attached but linked. Not sure why they aren't showing up for you. What browser are you using?

Not sure why you can't see them, but try switching to Mozilla Firefox as a browser. Everyone seems to like it more, and I am a big fan of it.

Using your methods I found a ten foot prefabbed counter at Lowes this week for $40! Didn't buy it cause it was bake butcherblock looking but I am keeping my out out. Thanks for the ideas!

Okay maybe I'm stupid, but how exactly is the best way to actually mount the countertop to the 4x4 legs or 2x4 frame?

Can't see the pics, either. Using Firefox 2.0, I see just blank space. Using IE 6.0, I see red X's. I tried using Properties on the red X's and copied and pasted the link into the browser address field. I get an error page. Do you have to be a member to the roadfly website?
