After I finsih typing this I will be starting something that I have waited a long time for: My garage is getting finished. We live in the house that my wife grew up in. It's a standard split-level house with attached garage that her parents bought new in 1964. We moved in here three years ago to take care of her dad after her mom died. He passed away last year and we've started to do some updating. The entire house was still vintage 1964 so we've had to do some work. Now, it's GARAGE TIME!! The garage is only about 22 wide by 25 deep and her dad had done a bunch of built in canning shelves that are useless for anything over 12 inches tall. He also built some hanging shelves for bigger stuff. All of that is coming out, along with the eight various fluorescent fixtures that were hung higgeldy piggeldy from the joists. So, clean out starts today and will probably carry on most of this week. Next monday the drywall and electrical starts. That should take a week to 10 days. Then paint. Lastly, I'm going to go with a Racedeck floor in silver with a blue stripe. I'm really stoked. :deathmeta I'll post pictures as I go. Here's what I'm starting with.

Thanks, it's one of two that will be sharing the garage when all is said and done. I've been collecting Mustang & Cobra stuff for quite a while to decorate with.

This weekend I managed to get the yard shed built and the mower and other yard-related stuff moved in, most of the car stuff moved to storage, and demo'd the shelving. I'll spend the next few evenings getting the last of the miscellaneous stuff moved to storage and I'll take a few pictures of the bare shell before the drywalling commences. :bounce:

The 25 foot depth should work well, even with a workbench or shelving along the back. Having 22 feet for the width isn't really that bad, you just might not be able to store things along the walls & expect to open doors all the way on the cars. I've been able to store a '95 F-150 side by side, with a '69 Plymouth in just an 18 foot wide space. Not a work area by any means, but you can get in & out & keep them out of the weather.

Today was Day One. The drywall arrived early and the contactor and company got here spot on time at 8:30. Much demolition was accomplished, with drywall and a lot of the lights being removed, and electrical and framing were both started. Attached are pictures of "before", which is the result of last weekend's demolition of built-in shelves, and the end of the day today.
