1993 Honda Civic DX Coupe, Milano Red
1995 B18C1 DOHC VTEC engine w/ 00 P73 pistons, 11.5:1 compression, 9,000 RPM fuel cut
The peak HP is mid 8000 RPM, not exactly sure where. I dyno'd the car with the stock 8200 RPM fuel cut and the peak power was at the fuel cut.
In the pix, we have several shots of the powder coated wheels, which belonged to my best friend, Adam. I was having them coated for his Civic (also a 1993), but he was killed in a car accident before they were done.
There's also the 00 P73 pistons (Japanese Integra Type-R), balanced by Spoon Sports. They're a Honda-only tuning company in Japan, for those not familiar with Honda. Raised my compression to 11.5:1 instead of the stock 10.0:1, plus they have that nifty anti-friction coating Honda endows their performance variants with. G The engine was torn down and put back together by myself and my would-be girlfriend, surprisingly enough. When she said working on my engine turned her on a little, I knew I had to have her. ;)
The car is rather modified, mostly with upgraded OEM parts. Its almost more of an Integra than a Civic, with Integra wheels (w/Bridgestone Potenza RE750 tyres), radiator, engine, transmission, front suspension and brakes, axles and spoiler. The seats are out of a Civic del Sol (lightest and lowest seats Honda ever made), and the interior is being gutted. No carpet, removing the sound deadening material and only retaining the floormats and doorpanels. Stock, the car weighs 2245 lbs, its under 2200 lbs right now, despite the engine/transmission adding about 80 lbs over stock. But there's still more to be taken out, and I have yet to go with any carbon fiber body panels. I'm a freak when it comes to lightening a car, I love the minimalist cars like the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, Porsche 911 GT2s and GT3s, etc.
She was stolen from me last July, but thanks to some countermeasures, the thieves got very, very little. Just the intake tube and filter and the stock ECU. I put her back together with new performance suspension bushings, new axles, a Stage 1 clutch and pressure plate, reprogrammed ECU and finally switched over to synthetic oil (0W-30 Mobil 1). The alignment shop was nice enough to put my car to perfectly symmetrical specs, rather than just within the tolerances.
I still have yet to run her at the track since I put in the new pistons. I did run years ago, a 14.7@96 MPH, but the engine had bad rings at the time. I'd expect mid to high 13s once I'm done gutting the car and get the thing tuned on the dyno. She's running a bit rich right now, due to the reprogrammed ECU.
Anyway, thanks for reading my novel up above. I like this place as I've grown rather tired of the kids in the import world. I've never been about looking fast, just going fast. I've never had a big stereo or a bodykit. I do have exhaust, but it was spendy and it sounds rather good. Those bumble-bee Hondas you guys are probably sick of hearing have cheap exhaust. With exhausts for Hondas, you get what you pay for. The only thing I have that is controversial is the Integra Type-R spoiler, which seems to always look taller in pix than it actually is. I like the way it looks, and its the one thing that kinda lets people know (at least the import kiddies) that my car means business. Well, that and the DOHC VTEC badge on the trunk. At least I like to think that's what the wing says, since all the fast Japanese cars (Supra, WRX STi, Lancer Evolution, etc) have big wings. Other than that, its basically stock on the outside, save a few minor details.
I guess this is where I welcome any and all comments.
