Gents,

Here's the latest (g-job) project out of the Garage-Mahal. I scoured the internet for pics and ideas for a cart for my welding gear. I saw a lot of cool designs, but none that incorporated everything that I wanted. Soooooo....

In the famous words of Tim Taylor, "I rewired it!"

The pics should be self-explanatory, but here's a list of what's on it:

1. shiny new Lincoln PRECISION TIG 225 (with hand Amptrol, no pedal)
2. Lincoln Weld-Pak 155 MIG (flux core, mostly for quick work & tacks)
3. Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38 Plasma (painted red to match)
4. big, honkin Argon cylinder for the TIG.
5. water/dirt filter for plasma (plumbed & mounted behind the plasma)
6. area for all the TIG rods.
7. clamps, magnets, etc...
8. storage "box" (the diamond plate top) for tungstens, gloves, etc...
9. hooks for all cables, masks and jacket.
10. four 110v outlets (from the back of the TIG!)
11. hangars for 4" grinders (grind wheel, 40 grit flapper, 80 grit flapper)
12. painted Hammerite black (just like my tubing bender project)

Constructed of leftover scraps, bed frames, expanded metal and 1" tubing. All the welding was done by the small MIG for convenience.

Now I just wheel it over to where I want to weld/fab, and everything I need is right here!

Mmmmmm Tig machine

That is an awesome set up you have. As you said, you can bring the machine to the work, not the work to the machine

Nice job, Im very jealous

Buy a MIG, and start gluing things together. It's how everyone learns, although some have the good fortune to have an instructor present.

REFLEXX...
I realy like your setup. Pics have already been saved for future duplication. :D

How come you didn't run a 180* around the cylinder, and then tie out from there to the frame? I'm guessing because the radius on your die was too tight? A U with a radius that matched the cylinder would have looked really clean.

Aaaahh.. the harbor freight grinder trilogy. I know thee well. Lemme guess: 1 cutoff, one grinding wheel, and one flap disc?

Great looking set up-
One thing that you might want to change that I can see-eventually,you're going to want to run gas with the MIG,which is going to require another cylinder,so before you paint, why not modify the back of the cart? You have plenty of room for three cylinders in the base, you would only need to change the bent tubing that the current cylinder is bungeed to.By the way,you might want to consider something a bit beefier to keep the tanks upright on the cart-chain or ratchet straps maybe?

That is one beautiful set up you got there. Well engineered. Bravissimo!

Fast,
The MIG is just for "rough" work, outdoor work, and tack welding! No bottle nec.
I was going to machine a fancy bottle clamp of some sort, then I realized it's just a welding cart. I might add some chain for the holder, instead of the temporary bungee.

BMWP,
Get a 220v MIG and start. You'll never look back!

TNT,
grind disc, 40 flap & 80 flap.

thanks for the comments guys!

it's just a welding cart.

I don't believe you just said that.

I'm guessing that the off road tyres and trailer hitch are a future addition.
