drill press/bench grinder on mobile cart

I have dreamed about having a grinder predestal and a floor drill press, but it is too much room to give up in a 2 car garage.
So I picked up a 12" benchtop drill press and also have a bench grinder.

This is one of the tool chest that I have, the top is thin 1/2" ?? MDF, but if I replace the top with something thicker that supports the proper bolt/hole pattern, do you think I can get away with putting my drill press or bench grinder on it? The press is a little top heavy but I think the grinder will be quite safe. I assembled the drill press on top of the cart I think it only needs a way to be anchored down for some per project usage.

What I am thinking is kind of like the tool table that you can replace the tool that share one stand sold at Lowes.

I have a 10" drill press and it too is very top heavy. I don't have it bolted down, and never have. Its on a roll around table I built which has a larger surface than the tool chest you have pictured. I would think if you bolted it to a piece of 3/4 plywood that would replace the hard board on top of the chest you would be fine. Bench grinders that arent mounted have a tendency to "walk". I have my bench grinder mounted on a piece of 3/4 plywood that is larger than the base of the grinder. When I use it, I can set it on any of my bench tops and clamp the front edge of it to the bench with spring clamps or C Clamps.

Is the top of that box plastic?

I think it would be OK if there is something solid underneath to bolt the DP to (i.e., metal).

I have a box like that ... it's about 3 years old ... I think it would work ok if you mounted {fastened} the top down with so wood screws or something ... you would have to be aware when using it so that you don't tip the box over ... put your heaviest tools in the bottom drawers to help keep it balanced

What do you have for a drill press?

I have an OLD Atlas one, and my boss has a box like that. The plastic top would be broken in no time, and those wheels don't lock as well, for drilling long things.

It would be great for the grinder though, if you flip it over to the steel side (assuming it one of those that does).

My drill press is 12" ryobi it weights about 90 lbs
The cart is home owner grade, if the top cracks I think I will build a new top that will also reinforce the cart. It's a plastic template with a cutout area to put a board. I usually drill holes for brackets and small pieces, so it shouldn't be too bad.
