my work have combustion chamber cleaner spray can that use to spray throught throttle body while engine running to burn carbon on valves and top of pistons to clean carbons off. my work did use it to clean the carbons when did engine repair like replaced head gasket or replaced valve stems. because some of customers brought in my work to complaint about the vehicle is new and burn little oil. my master tech did found that customer dont drive much as what vehicle recommend to do like drive 12,000 miles a year as normal average of public drive...

that vehicle have about 2,000 miles in engine as brand new that customer was bought it in 2004 and dont drive much.. so master tech have to replaced the valve stems and used the combustion chamber cleaner to clean the carbons off inside of engine. it is stop the oil smoking.

my big concern is are combustion chamber cleaner will make carbons to off from valves and pistons then making it a problem with cataytic convertor as it would be clogged early than what it should be to make 100,000 miles. i know that dealership have warranty for emission system to 100,000 miles that federal's legal....

If it's rated to be safe for use on cars equipped with cats it should be fine. If you're talking about the BG stuff, Ford dealerships use it all the time.

GM sells the same stuff through the parts dept. and is part of their complete tune up job. They've had it since I worked for them in the late 80's, I believe it costs around $25- $30 a can, but it does work.

no it is 100,00 miles on catalytic convertor as federal. i did look at warranty list like powertrain, and etc. also my work have recall about catalytic convertor that make rattle or problem with PCM that need flash on Jeep Cherokee. but most time techs will replaced catalyic convertor because it already making rattle noise and few of time they just flash the PCM....

i know some of dealership have combustion chamber cleaner as name like my Chrysler and Jeep part dept sell it... i did used it few time to get inside clean and try make engine run better while it had tune up.

Seafoam is mentioned a lot on some auto forums, lots of smoke I understand. I am still a little skeptical.

This type of combustion chamber cleaner has been around for over 20 years. I remember using that stuff on early-mid 1980s BMWs on an almost daily basis for a while at one of the first shops I worked at around '85-'86. I do not know if there could be any harmful effects to the cat or not, but the alternative, a poorly running engine, has got to be far worse for the converter than anything the cleaning process could do.

i know that Misfire A type will increase emission as 1.5 time of emission that will harm to cataytic convertor. but it will make rattle noise when miles increase due to more of carbons go to catalyic convertor.

it will make a lot of smoking but it dont harm any thing in engine. the important is have vehicle park outside or use exhaust hose that go out of shop because it is nasty to breath it. i did used few time and it is worked.

one time that my tech friend forget to put hose on exhaust pipe while he sprayed the combustion chamber cleaner in engine by throttle body while engine running. it is a lot of smoking. the reason is why he do that because he just have head gasket replacement and want make sure there is no problem in engine.
