Hi, I am trying to find somewhere to buy an air compressor from. I am looking at the 10hp IR compressors with the 120 gallon tank and after cooler included with it. The biggest i've found at a normal store is their 7.5hp compressor, which wont supply enough air. I'm trying to avoid the 30+ day wait for the compressor to be shipped. I need it asap, just looking if anyone knows of somewhere to buy one and have it shipped right away. Im south of chicago if it will matter. Thanks a lot in advance!

Just curious, what in the world are you going to run that needs THAT much air??? This is somewhere in the range of 33 to 35 CFM of air.

it is going to be in a restoration shop, at least 3 guys working off of it. so im trying to be prepared for one guy to be painting, someone else running a da, and not having to worry about running out of air. I know for sure there will be some projects when 2 people will be running 8" da sanders at the same time, just as an example.

we were going to purchase it from northerntool, but we are trying to avoid the 30+ wait for shipping. How clean is the air from a screw compressor? i noticed that they use an "oil flooded screw" i will be painting and doing body work. Thanks for the help everyone!

I got mine from TSC with a 7.5hp / 80 gal tank /T-30 pump .....
Anyone that does carry it local , just ask if they can order the model you want. One would think if they can offer the other models then that they can order the one you need.
Your looking at 3 phase correct for the 10hp .............

yes, 3 phase. anything bigger than 7.5 hp is automatically 3 phase

There are 10 hp single phase motors. Eaton compressor, for example, has 10 hp single phase units., but the wiring and such are pretty heavy for a small shop.

Another consideration for a high use shop compressor (but you will still have a long wait to get it) is a dual pump unit That way, during times of low use, you only have one pump going, and when the demand gets high, and the first pump cannot keep up, the second pump kicks in.
A screw compressor would work well if you are constantly drawing lots of air. If you are setting up a shop like this, and buying a compressor like this, I have to assume that oil and air and water separators, refrigerant dryers, etc, are going to be installed in the system

I concur, I have a local IR dealer that I could have purchased any IR compressor thru. As far as a deal, I don't know, but they had most all of them in stock, this depends on your location though, I'm in the Oklahoma City metro.
