Hey guys,

Saturday morning I decided to tackle changing a flexplate on my mustang. I was figuring 3 days to do the work. That's just my ballpark from many years of working on the car...virtually all of it in my old barn rather than my new garage.

Saturday night I was driving the car again.

With the new garage I've got a couple of huge time savers.

1. The lift. The biggest savings there is you don't have to get down on a creeper, slide under the car, find out that 1/2" nut is really 9/16", slide back out from under the car, get the 9/16" socket, slide back under the car, realize that roughly HALF the bolts on a 4R70W transmission are metric and that this must be one of them...slide back out...repeat.

2. Just having all needed tools in one place. Before I had a garage, I had tools in my barn, tools in the basement, and tools in my truck. I always had to visit all 3 to find whatever tools were required for any job. Now it's all there within 10 feet, hanging on a pegboard or in my roll around.

Anyway...It was beautiful here Saturday, so I stayed after it and the next thing you know...it was done. I was stoked! And, the car starts much better now that the 164 tooth flex plate actually has 164 teeth...rather than 163 teeth and one large gap!

What I did and have not yet seen it done was to put an extension cord with a momentary switch on a magnetic base about 25 feet long that I use to control the raising from anywhere around the vehicle. I do know you need to be carfull not be between the lift and the car while pressing the button and the button can not be depressed accidently it is resessed.

I had my garage cleaned, straightened and everything put where it belongs a few weeks ago. I was amazed at how fast I could work on projects...

...now it's a mess again...:wtf:

I envy you! Currently my shop is a freaking mess. Part of it is finishing up a couple projects, so have building supplies stacked in there. Then have a bunch of cabinets to install, so those are stacked in there. Until the cabinets are installed, the things that should be in the cabinets are laying everywhere... Takes me forever just to find things in there... :(
