gas power washer exhaust to outside?

Last weekend I rented a 5.5 hp honda gas pressure washer. Washed my house and a buddy's too. It worked great. Lots of pressure AND gallons per minute. The 110v power washers put out the psi but not the GPM. So, as I want to use one of these in my garage I thought "hey, I'll just get a 220v model that has a similar sized motor and no exhaust problems". Well, the 220v models are available but cost a lot more than the 5.5hp gas ones. I don't quite understand why considering (I think) the gas motor is swapped out and a 220v one is installed. I saw gas ones for CAN$800 while the same psi and gpm in 220v were ~CAN$1200.00.

So, I'm thinking maybe I should come up with some sort of way to exhaust the gas fumes and still be able to use this gas one in my garage. Am I just asking for trouble? Has anyone done this sort of thing? I don't want to take any risk and I do understand that I can simply open the garage door but this washer will be used a lot in the winter when I want to keep the door closed.

Any thoughts?

yea you are asking for trouble, even a small leak in the exhuast will kill you in a enclosed garage. Even with the door open, you would have to have positive ventilation to keep from getting overcome with fumes.

You have three choices
(1) Get the 220 VAC one.
(2) Get extra long hoses and put the gas unit outside with the hoses coming under the door.
(3) Go to a commerical car wash.

I wwould suggest door number 2

Whatever you do, don't use it inside a closed garage.
It will be the last thing you do.

So whats this all about ? I use a gas power washer in the garage/shop to clean the floor and have the door open and all the windows and run the fans.

It sounds like your wanting to run a gas washer in the garage in the winter or with everything all closed up? You not like washing cars in the garage are u ?

Is all this effort just to quickly clean the floor one in a wile ?

Cut a hole thru the wall. Use a thimble for a heater vent to eliminate a fire hazard. Put a 1-2 foot extension in the engines exhaust, go thru the wall. Safety 1st, yes, But too much is stupid.

I disagree. Run it outside and use a long hose. It's safer and cheaper. People kill themselves all the time doing what you said, usually with generators. It's not worth it.

So, just as a follow up to my original question about gas washer inside the garage. I have now reworked the plan and our current outdoor shed is going to **** against the garage once built. Ill make a connection between these 2 and run the pressure washer hose thru. I doing so, I'm also going to put the 60 gal compressor there as well, saving garage space and decreasing noise. The shed has good air circulation so we won't be gassing anyone.

Thanks for your suggestions and confirming my safety thoughts!
