And as far as a ridge vent, I have a 2x4 along the ridge so that (as far as I know) wouldn't work.

Edit: I CAN install a ridge vent

Chainsaw use would be the best bet.

What we did to our tool boxes in the Marine Corps was to cut out the specific tool shapes into 1/4-1/2" rubber or foam of a contrasting color to the tool box (black usually)...
